If the team can solidify the O-line in free agency and draft defense with the first two draft picks.. Would Thomas be a possible target in free agency? Could the team afford this guy? He sure played well for Denver.
I don't think he's a good fit here. He's not a good blocker and he was banged up a lot last year. He's a good receiving TE but he's going to get a decent amount of money. I'd pass. Give Donnell another year. I'd rather sign their other TE. Virgil Green. He's a very good blocker and would be a better compliment to Donnell.
12 TDs but 43 catches for 489 yards compared to Donnell's 63 catches for 623 yards and 6 TDs. I'd like to see Donnell get a shot. Those are pretty good numbers. I think our FA dollars are better spent elsewhere than TE.
If he hadn't had the 4 costly fumbles (usually trying to go airborne and make a play), people would be singing a very different tune regarding our TE status.
He is a pass catching TE who is going to command a nice salary.. He isnt a two way TE.. definitely not a blocker.. The TE is not a focal point of the Giants offense..
Giants TE's no matter who is in the system under Coughlin have averaged around 50-55 receptions.. 650 yards and 5-6 TD's..
“Julius is here to get his money and get out,” one teammate told me last week. “That’s just how some guys are. He didn’t grow up playing this game and it’s just not in his DNA to put it all out there.” When asked if Julius Thomas was soft like some say, he said, ” where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” According to the teammate, Julius Thomas was healthy enough to play multiple times last season but refused to. In one instance Julius Thomas was heard saying, “I’m about 90% – I’m getting close.”
I also would like Gresham as long as he came at a decent price. He is a great blocker.

You dont pay big money for that..
