NFT: House of Cards - Season 3

B in ALB : 2/26/2015 9:18 am
Just a friendly reminder that one of the best shows on TV or off TV starts again tomorrow. The entire season will be released and it's time to binge watch the Underwoods fuck DC right in its keyster, get in some threesomes, murder fools, bribe, extort, threaten and manipulate their way to the top.

And is the First Lady sexy as hell or what? She's gotta be pushing 50 right?

She's come a long way from sweet Jenny.
My weekend is booked

I thought season 2
PaulBlakeTSU : 2/26/2015 9:25 am : link
was a train-wreck that almost caused me to quit on the show several times. It had a good finale, though, so I'll check out Season 3.

INteresting trivia: the reason this show came about was because Netflix saw in its data-mining that there was an overlap between people who liked the original BBC series and people who like Kevin Spacey and David Fincher, so Netflix approached them about doing a remake.
yeah, season 2 wandering in some weird directions

Disagree entirely about season 2, but to each his own. That said, your trivia is not really accurate:

Code:
Independent studio Media Rights Capital, founded by Mordecai Wiczyk and Asif Satchu, producer of films such as Babel, purchased the rights to House of Cards with the intention to create a series.[4] While finishing production on his 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, David Fincher's agent showed him House of Cards, a BBC miniseries starring Ian Richardson.[4] Fincher was interested in producing a potential series with Eric Roth.[4] Fincher said that he was interested in doing television because of its long-form nature,[16] adding that working in film doesn't allow for complex characterizations the way that television allows.[16] "I felt for the past ten years that the best writing that was happening for actors was happening in television. And so I had been looking to do something that was longer form," Fincher stated.[16]

MRC approached different networks about the series, including HBO, Showtime and AMC, but Netflix, hoping to launch its own original programming, outbid the other networks.[17] Ted Sarandos, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, looked at the data of Netflix users' streaming habits and concluded that there was an audience for Fincher and Spacey.[18] "It looked incredibly promising," he said, "kind of the perfect storm of material and talent."[4] In finding a writer to adapt the series, Fincher stated that they needed someone who could faithfully translate parliamentary politics to Washington."[4] Beau Willimon, who has served as an aide to Charles Schumer, Howard Dean and Hillary Clinton,[19] was hired and completed the pilot script in early 2011.[4] Willimon saw the opportunity to create an entirely new series from the original and deepen its overall story.[4]

oddly enough. The fact that they cannot criticize the government without possible punishment makes the show appealing from a taboo standpoint apparently.
Will the season be

Yes, it will be available for streaming starting February 27th, tomorrow.
Season 1 was fantastic

and season 2 was entertaining but just really stupid. I'll watch but I can't see how they keep this show going.
Frank went a little Bond villain in S2
Ben in Tampa : 2/26/2015 11:16 am : link
But I thought the show pulled itself together pretty strongly at the end. Watching the Underwood's master plan finally come together was a great payoff, and I absolutely love the last scene when Frank taps his ring on the resolute desk.

Can't wait for S3, I'm traveling this weekend so I'm not sure how or when I'll get my binge watching in but I will get it done.
Try House of Bricks

I gave it 7 or 8 episodes.

It was well done, and there is a lot to like in the performances and writing. But I don't have the patience for long-form TV dramas. I had seen enough to appreciate the work and its cultural significance, but I decided that I didn't really give a shit whether Druggie McGee became governor of PA and that I had plenty of things I'd rather be doing than watch the rest of the series.
Holy crap, had no idea Mrs Underwood was Jenny
Wellington : 2/27/2015 11:45 am : link
The more you know. She is both sensational in the role and very very sexy.

Season 2 did wander for me as well. I am interested in seeing if they can keep it together this season.
