All of the hype is Kevin White and Amari Cooper. Those two are going to be studs. I am just wondering why is everyone sleeping on Davante Parker? Would giants fans be against getting him? Davante Parker - ( New Window )
Huge catch radius and gets up and makes plays over people. He's not as polished as the other 2 so I'd still rank him 3rd. But you can't teach catch radius like his and he might have the highest ceiling of the top 3 because of it.
than White, but it seems like the league and draft pundits see him as the 3rd WR available. I think he's more raw than Cooper or White, but potentially a top player if he can learn to run routes better.
we drafted the 3rd best WR on most draft boards last year
When I rewatched some of his tape it looks like he made great strides in his game this season.
Parker's numbers throughout his career have been excellent but this last year in only 6 games he had video-game numbers: 43 catches, 855 yards 19.9 YPC...extrapolate that over 13 games and you have 93 catches, 1852 yards and 11 tds (and that's with 3 different QBs not named Bridgewater throwing the ball to him).
I still think his route running at times is sloppy which you get alot with kids that are so talented physically they don't need to try hard to get open. He pretty much has the whole package: size, speed, strength, good hands, and large catching radius.
Would be ecstatic with him at 9, but also think Cooper and White will be productive NFL WRs as well.
Would prefer 1 of the 3 receivers but Giant value pass rush DL higher than any other non-QB position.
Not true. They value WR just as much and DB as much as well. And the reality is that in the NFL today WR is the most important position outside of QB. That's not lost on the Giants.

Both those positions are valued highly as well and have said as much many times. However pass rush DL is right below QB.
I would prefer a number of players before him and wonder why a player of his gifted ability didn't produce more.
That said from what I've heard, he essentially was utilized in a 2 gap 3-4 system. A kid with his skillset could (keyword) be alot more effective in a 4-3.
Is that there isn't a 4-3 pass rusher worth the #9 pick. Thus, WR becomes the choice. V
Absolutely Fowler is a 4-3 pass rusher worth pick 9... You can also say Ray also.
.Folwler is generally listed at OLB and Ray is 245 lb. Both are 6'3". Both look like 3-4 OLBs
Fowler weighed in at 261 lbs at the combine and has played at over 270. He has played DE, LB, and DT in college! They line him up all over. He looks very good with his hand in the dirt. I don't care how he is listed he absolutely can and IMO should be a 4-3 DE. Just because he can play OLB in a 3-4 because of his high athleticism doesn't mean he isn't a 4-3 DE. To me that is the better fit honestly. Ray definitely has some weight to add, but played DE in a 4-3 in college. With some weight he has some big time skills and can help rushing the passer from day one. If he can put on 20 lbs he will be a very good 4-3 DE imo... Bud Dupree I would say also is a good 4-3 DE, but he is more of a 12-20 spot guy.
He's a lot more than a red zone guy. He's a mismatch on any part of the field. He'll be a tough cover for NFL CBs because he can go over the middle as an enormous target and get deep.
He has excellent ball skills. He really knows how to go up for the ball. Explosive and quick off the ground (jump like Donald Driver with little effort) and super long. Its not just the length. I know some knock his feet but I like his quicks and how he gets off press.
I think he'll be a big time player. The AJ Green comparisons are legit but Parker gets up even higher than Green.
I love the fact he is not getting the same pub as the other two. Quite probable he will be available at 9.
I think its also probable the Giants want a guy at 9 that screams playmaker and/or freak athlete. Post-combine, that looks to be either be a surprise Defensive Lineman or one of the 3 WRs.
I'm guessing we'll address OL in FA and likely pick another one up in the top 3-4 rounds.
I think Parker will be there at 9 because he is not getting the accolades from scouting gurus who are boosting White and Cooper. I am sure that he is high on most team drafts boards anyway because he has similar ball skills to OBJ and goes up for the ball to catch it with his hands at the highest point.
He also runs well after he catches the ball to get extra yards, and that fits the current system the G-men run.
I think he is a better player than Ruben Randell and if teamed up with OBJ would make a dangerous combination. If The Giants feel that Parker is also better than Corey Washington who I think showed great potential in pre-season last year to be a terrific flanker who can also team up with OBJ and create problems for defenses than Parker would be a good selection at 9.
Parker may also be gone at 9 even though he is not getting the hype. I wish Corey got more of a chance to play in the regular season last year to see what his ceiling could be. I think you have to trust the Giants brain trust on that. I do have a strong feeling that they will select a play maker in the first round and not a line man.
That play maker could also be a running back to replace Wilson. I would not be surprised if that happened either, but I think the G-men would trade down in the first round before selecting a RB.
Parker to my naked eye has the 'it' factor. He is a presence out there. High pointing the ball and better game speed than White in my opinion.
He may be the least polished of the 3 but he also may have the highest upside.
Washington was an example of TC's stubborness when it comes to forcing a player to excel at something he may never be great at (STs). Would have loved seeing him more often in sub-packages. I think this kid could be a player in this league . He certainly flashed in pre-season. Hopefully TC gives him enough of an opportunity this year to see what he can do as a receiver.
Parker also had a foot injury last year.. so I think that will be a concern..

But what do I know, I wanted Evans last year.

This sounds good to me.

Except Brown won't make it past 20. It's Parker or Brown and so it's Parker.

Fit the Giant ideal prototype for a DE/DT.

It seems that way but we don't know Giant thinking for sure. Armstead from a size/speed/strength/frame standpoint fits the Giant prototype to a 'T'.
The JPP selection was a bit of a surprise to many too.

Armstead is horrible. He has great size and that is it.

That said he has nice triangle numbers and a huge catch radius. He can be a weapon near the end zone. 2nd round talent I think.

Pugh/Jones
Richburg/Jones
Schwartz/Jerry/Jones
FA-RT (Possibly Franklin/Newton)

Not a horrible line by any stretch.
