To further that, I had posted on BBI when he was last available that I spoke with one of his buddies who had said he wanted to sign with the Giants or Jets so he can be back close to home. Wouldn't be shocked to see him look to potentially wrap up his career back in the NY area.

It's a shrinking world, Matt. I've friends with one of his aunts.
RE: RE: 25 catches, 226 yards, 4 touchdowns for a season
on a team with terrible WRs that caught 0 touchdowns all season, playing with a QB that likes to check down.
Travis Kelce - 67 catches for 862 yards and 5 TDs. KC was 10th in the league in rushing with a 1000 yard back.
Your point?
My point is that he's not good and never has been good. On a team that desperately needed options for the QB, they could not find a use for him. And Andy Reid likes playing TEs.

I suppose you could clarify what you mean by "good."
Good in terms of catching the ball?
Or good in terms of blocking?
He's an above average blocking TE. And a solid pass catcher.
By the way - do you know what his drop rate was two years ago with Miami? Zero.
2010 - his drop rate was 4 - Fifth in the league.
You know how many times he's fumbled the ball?
Twice. In his career.
Donnell fumbles twice a game.
he's never been known to be a high volume pass catching TE
But he seems to find plenty of snaps on the field and displays enough efficiency out there blocking and catching that teams keep enlisting his services.
The fact that he'd like to be back near Verona would make him an obvious option for the second TE. Definitely a giants lunch pail kinda player.
Donnell is the man, he will hopefully be even more productive this season, and Fells wasn't bad either. I don't see Fasano being a necessary pick up, but he would be a good Giant.
as a good blocker/limited receiver but we need backup material at TE. They could do a lot worse. However, they shouldn't pay him much. He's a league min guy.
A dirt cheap TE like Fasano is an immediate upgrade to the running game if he replaces Robinson on the roster.
And to harp on what Donnell brings to the table - potential. He had shown signs of stardom, but also made a tremendous amount of mistakes when it cost the most.. He effectively lost the Dallas game with his turnover, and that was just one of many instances.
I like him by the way, but veteran depth (especially in the running game) at the position would be welcomed.

He'd be a solid addition to replace probably Fells on middle distance downs where he can either block, pass block or vacate and run a pattern.
We did okay last year with our three headed crew.
Plus he's from NJ.
Over the hill at 30? At TE? Good lord.
What the fuck are you babbling about?

Fells, Fasano, Donnell, Robinson as the lead 4 TE candidates in training camp. Let the best three win.
settle down. he went to notre dame.
200% approve, all I care about is his blocking. I also have seen him make pretty clutch catches in college. Block = sign
again, 100% agree. The 3 Tight Ends we have, combined, can't block a cb
