NFT: Liverpool FC and Dunkin Donuts

B in ALB : 2/26/2015 5:29 pm
So apparently John Henry of Red Sox fame - also known as Dr. Creepy - owns Liverpool FC in the EPL. He struck a deal with Dunkin Donuts. Check it out...

What a fucking joke. Oh but at least they apologized after they desecrated the Liverpool shield. Something that thousands hold dear to their hearts. Stupid fucking americans.

Love the logo? You must have no understanding of the Liverpool fans or their passion for their squad.

Lemme guess. You're a front running oddity who roots for teams that have recently won something. You have no history or familial allegiance to any team - unlike Liverpool's fans who live and die by their squad - you've just crawled out of the woodwork, right?

Crawl back in please.
The flames on the Liverpool logo

were added as memorial to the Hillsborough victims. Which is why the Liverpool support are particularly touchy about this publicity stunt.

Personally (although not a Liverpool fan) I don't see the issue, but fundamentally it's a PR goof.
It's a PR goof, as has been said.

And I wonder if Henry even knew about this. I guess it's possible he reviews this kind of stuff but he's a rich and busy dude. He probably leaves this to the marketing weenies.
The big story/outrage here is the

replacement of the eternal flames for the 96 that died at Hillsborough with iced coffees. Otherwise it is just a silly PR thing.

Also, I think there is 1 DD in London. It is essentially a US only sponsor.
There are some Dunkin Donuts about in the UK.

not very many at all but a few (probably less than 10 stores in the entire country, there's probably more than that in some US streets). They're on a franchise system over here.

There used to be more but they got closed in the mid 2000's
