the subject of a recent Broadway show called "Million Dollar Quartet", and there is also a recording of the session. I saw the B'way show and enjoyed it.

I was channel surfing the other night and on the Smithsonian Channel, they were running their Folkways Special on Huddie Ledbetter (better known as Lead Belly).

What a fascinating life. Self-taught 12-string guitarist, called the "Human Jukebox" caused he memorized every song he ever heard in a single listening, spent time on a Chain Gang, and actually sang his way to a pardon from the Governor of Texas.

There's a long list of artists and bands that pay homage to Huddie. This guy earned the right to sing the Blues.
