Miller B/R: 2015 NFL Draft Big Board: Post-Combine Update
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2377017-2015-nfl-draft-big-board-post-combine-update

Rang CBS Sports: 2015 NFL Draft Big Board: Jameis Winston on top after combine
"1. Florida State QB Jameis Winston, 6-4, 231, 4.97, So: Winston's off-field issues certainly are a concern. There is no denying his talent or the importance of the quarterback position in today's NFL. Winston possesses a prototypical combination of physical traits necessary for success in the NFL, including the size, functional mobility, arm strength and accuracy. Better yet, he enhances these tools with awareness, on-field composure and natural leadership skills. Barring a meltdown over the next two months, Winston will be the Tampa Bay Bucs' choice with the No. 1 overall selection.
2. Southern Cal DT Leonard Williams, 6-5, 302, 4.97, Jr: Strong, athletic and passionate, the Trojans' star is earning comparisons to everyone from Houston Texans' defensive end J.J. Watt to Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy for his ability to dominate the line of scrimmage while alternating between defensive tackle and defensive end. He's too quick for guards and too strong for tackles, wreaking havoc along the line of scrimmage against the run and pass.

3. Florida DE Dante Fowler Jr., 6-3, 261, 4.60, Jr: A talented pass rusher with experience at outside linebacker and all over the defensive line, Fowler is an intriguing athlete with range, strength and flexibility. He isn't as explosive off the snap or productive as some of the other pass rushers but is the most pro-ready.

4. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, 6-4, 222, 4.52, rJr: Mariota's mesmerizing physical traits captivate scouts and there is no question that he earned the Heisman Trophy and was the key to Oregon's run to the national championship game. Mariota will be making a difficult transition from Oregon's spread offense but quieted some critics with an impressive throwing session at the Combine, showing surprising rhythm and accuracy while "dropping back" -- something he rarely did with the spread offense of the Ducks.

5. Alabama WR Amari Cooper, 6-1, 211, 4.42, Jr: His production this season looks like something out of a video game. Alabama's first Biletnikoff Award winner, Cooper shattered Alabama records with 124 receptions for 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns, including two scores against the Buckeyes in the Sugar Bowl loss. It isn't only production in Lane Kiffin's pro-style scheme that has scouts excited. Cooper is a terrific route-runner whose agility and acceleration make his elusiveness appear almost effortless.

6. Missouri DE Shane Ray, 6-3, 245, 4.54, Jr: Ray had to bide his time backing up Michael Sam and Kony Ealy but was dominant as a junior, leading the SEC with 14.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss -- despite missing most of the SEC Championship game after a hit on Alabama quarterback Blake Sims was deemed targeting by officials. Voted the conference's Defensive Lineman of the Week three times, Ray is proving that his phenomenal athleticism -- he's been credited with a 4.4-second 40-yard dash and 40-plus vertical jump -- translates well to the gridiron. Ray might wind up a top 5 pick, as the perception in the scouting community is that he is just scratching the surface of his potential.

7. Iowa OT Brandon Scherff, 6-5, 319, 5.05, rSr: Scherff may just prove the best in the long line of blockers tutored by Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz, which is quite an accomplishment considering 13 Iowa offensive linemen have been drafted since Ferentz took over in 1999. Scherff won big points with scouts for his toughness, battling back from a torn meniscus and corrective surgery on Sept. 8 to start vs. rival Iowa State five days later. Team doctors want to check his recovery. Scherff is powerful, tough and tenacious, and I see him as one of the "safer" prospects in the draft, though his ultimate position in the NFL could be at right tackle or guard.

8. Washington DT Danny Shelton, DT, 6-2, 339, 5.64, Sr: Broad-shouldered, powerful and surprisingly passionate in pursuit, Shelton is a classic two-gap run defender with the gaudy statistics to catch the attention of scouts. He has flashed first-round talent throughout his career but played at a different level as a senior, boosting his stock considerably. Shelton was nearly unstoppable during Senior Bowl practices, cementing his top 10 status.

9. West Virginia WR Kevin White, 6-3, 215, 4.35, Sr: No player improved his draft stock more in 2014 than White. It wasn't just his production (110 catches for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns) that impressed scouts. White's size, strength and ability to come down with contested grabs is something every team in the NFL wants at the receiver position. While the eye-popping 40-yard dash time at the Combine is sure to generate buzz, I didn't always see this kind of speed from White on tape.

10. Clemson OLB Vic Beasley, 6-3, 246, 4.53, rSr: With pressure on the quarterback priority No. 1 on defense, teams are more willing than ever to trade size for speed at the position. Like recent "undersized" first-round rushers Von Miller, Bruce Irvin, Barkevious Mingo and Dee Ford, Beasley boasts a lightning-quick first-step and the agility to stalk mobile quarterbacks. His combination of speed and strength (35 repetitions of 225 pounds) demonstrated at the Combine shows up on tape, as Beasley leaves Clemson as the school's all-time sacks leader (29).

11. Nebraska DE Randy Gregory, 6-5, 235, 4.64, Jr: Whether attacking off the edge out of the two- or three-point stance, Gregory is a natural pass rusher with an explosive get-off, flexibility, long arms and active hands and the tenacious style of play (including against the run) that will endear him to coaches. He dropped out of the top 10 on my board because of concerns about his lanky frame. He also struggled with injuries in 2014, making the medical reports teams receive critical to Gregory's final draft grade.

12. Kentucky DE Alvin "Bud" Dupree, 6-4, 269, 4.56, rSr: The Wildcats may not churn out high-end defenders like some other SEC teams, but that won't stop Dupree from earning a first-round selection. Dupree's length, agility and closing speed stand out on tape, as does his comfort playing out of the two- or three-point stance. Better yet, his traits translate into production against quality competition. Dupree leaves Kentucky with 24 sacks over his career, more than any other player in the SEC.

13. LSU OT La'el Collins, 6-4, 305, 5.12, Sr: Collins doesn't get the national attention of other tackles in this class, but the big man is surprisingly agile in pass protection and is a mauler in the running game. Collins isn't an elite athlete and will likely wind up inside at guard or right tackle in the NFL rather than at his customary left tackle position. He has the square build and physical nature to handle the move and saw snaps at left guard in Mobile.

14. Alabama SS Landon Collins, 6-0, 228, 4.53, Jr: Instinctive, athletic and an explosive hitter, Collins looks the part of a top 10 pick. His downhill-playing style might be best suited to strong safety as he was been fooled deep on occasion last season because of his aggression. Further, scouts certainly are aware that few highly drafted defensive backs out of Alabama have performed as brilliantly in the NFL as they did for Nick Saban."

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/25081593

Brugler CBS Sports: 2015 NFL Draft Top 50 Draft Board 2.0: A Wake Forest player rises up
"DT Leonard Williams, Southern California (6-5, 302, 4.97, Jr.): Williams hasn't done anything to lose his grasp on the top spot, projecting as an impact NFL player from day one either for either a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme.
2. QB Jameis Winston, Florida State (6-4, 231, 4.97, rSoph.): The clear favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in April, Winston helped himself at the NFL combine as the best quarterback during passing drills and received positive feedback during team interviews.

3. DE/OLB Dante Fowler, Florida (6-3, 261, 4.60, Jr.): The 2015 class is full of talented pass rushers, but Fowler is the most impressive with his get-off explosion and relentless energy to disrupt the backfield.

4. G Brandon Scherff, Iowa (6-5, 319, 5.05, rSr.): A college left tackle, Scherff will be a tackle on some draft boards, but his best fit at the next level is inside at guard where he can dominate as a run blocker and pass protector.

5. WR Amari Cooper, Alabama (6-1, 211, 4.42, Jr.): Arguably the safest prospect in the 2015 class, Cooper runs polished routes, knows how to get open and his 4.42 40-yard dash confirms he has more than enough speed for the NFL.

6. WR Kevin White, West Virginia (6-3, 215, 4.35, Sr.): One of the winners from the combine, White is still narrowly behind Cooper among wide receiver prospects on this board, but confirmed during his workouts that he is worth a top-seven pick.

7. QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon (6-4, 222, 4.52, rJr.): Isolating the traits, Mariota has the arm strength, athleticism and elite character for the NFL, but he's far from can't miss, taking a huge step from Oregon's offense to the pros.

8. DT Danny Shelton, Washington (6-2, 339, 5.64, Sr.): Shelton followed up his impressive Senior Bowl with a solid showing at the combine and will be an attractive prospect for a team in search of an athletic nose tackle.

9. WR DeVante Parker, Louisville (6-3, 209, 4.45, Sr.): While most of the wide receiver talk starts with Cooper or White, Parker reminded teams at the combine that he still belongs in the top-10 conversation with potential to be an NFL No. 1.

10. RB Todd Gurley, Georgia (6-1, 222, 4.54, Jr.): Although the ACL injury clouds his draft projection, Gurley's talent is still deserving of top-32 consideration and a team in the back half of Round 1 will likely get a steal.

11. DT Malcom Brown, Texas (6-2, 319, 5.05, Jr.): A player who can realistically line up at any of the defensive line spots, Brown has a good mixture of quickness and power to win off the snap and penetrate the backfield.

12. CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State (6-0, 186, 4.31, rJr.): Waynes entered the combine as the top cornerback and he put an exclamation point on that statement with a 4.31 40-yard dash, best among the defensive back group.

13. DE/OLB Randy Gregory, Nebraska (6-5, 255, 4.76, rJr.): Dropping five spots from the first draft board, Gregory has intriguing pass rush potential, but issues around functional strength and weight create several questions.

14. DE/OLB Vic Beasley, Clemson (6-2, 246, 4.53, rSr.): Beasley added 10-15 pounds for the combine and produced 35 reps on the bench, but didn't lose his burst despite the added weight with a 4.53 40-yard dash and 41-inch vertical jump.

15. OT Andrus Peat, Stanford (6-7, 313, 5.18, Jr.): Peat has mechanical and balance inconsistencies, but the body control and natural gifts for the position don't come along often, projecting him as a starting left tackle."

I understand it's limited to players who might plausibly be available at #9, but still: Shaq Thompson at #2 is puzzling. If he had blown the roof off the Combine, I could see it (maybe). As it is, he has very marginal speed for a safety, and very marginal size for a linebacker.

Scherff at #1? Landon Collins at #4? Well, OK, sort of. But I'll repeat this for the 37th time: Landon Collins was dead last among DBs in the 3-cone. Dead last. If the Giants pick him at #9 anyway, I'm not sure why they bothered flying to Indy for the Combine, since the 3-cone is supposedly among their favorite drills.
Patti's other slideshow is surprising too.

Hynoski and Herzlich are among the team's top five priorities for the next two weeks? (The others she lists are JPP, Beason and Thurmond, which are fine.) Among Giants whose contracts have expired, I think Antrel Rolle and Jacquian Williams represent bigger decisions than Hynoski or Herzlich, because they are harder to replace.

More urgent than Hynoski and Herzlich, IMO, are decisions regarding roster bonuses that come due early in the League year. I think that includes J.D. Walton and Robert Ayers. Not sure about Trumaine McBride, because he gets a lot of his roster bonus money during the season.
