Any BBI interest is in Ahmad Brooks??

CBSGameFace : 2/27/2015 10:08 am
It seems that there is a good amount of acrimony between Brooks and the 49ers. The young kid, I believe his name is Aaron Curry, who was getting a bulk of Brooks' playing time, really looked good.

You would think that with Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman coming off major injuries that the Niners would keep all the good LBs they currently have. Yes, I realize they play different LB positions.

Does he fit here? Could he play DE? I always liked his pass rush ability and athleticism? And Lord knows we need LBs.....
Potentially

More of a 3-4 OLB in the Carl Banks mold but would fit well as a SAM in Spagnuolo's defense (think Kiwanuka, Reggie Torbor, Danny Clark, but better).
Brooks is in decline

4-3 presents a scheme change for him, and not too many pass rushing types want to play 4-3 SAM. No interest on my part. Need to get younger, faster.
He plays fast and downhill

He could be Spags Kavika Mitchell
Kavika played WILL

different skillset entirely. I could Brooks wind up with the Redskins, Orakpo would present a better fit/risk for NYG.
Brooks's replacement is Aaron Lynch, not Aaron Curry.

Aaron Curry is the Seahawk bust who attempted a half-hearted comeback with the Giants. Do they block Google at your office?
Line backers are like good RBs today

not many studs.
Another guy I would bring in

Canty, Brooks, Reggie Bush, all would help us (assuming the prices were right of course).
Please, no more old, beat up players!

Why the nastiness? I wrote 'I think.......' because I wasnt sure and I dont Google everything before I post.

Are you a perfect poster here? Probably not. Ease back. OK?
He's a thumper

I'd look at him for short yardage duties at LB. Beason is a risk, McClain kinda stinks, he could easily beat out anyone besides Kennard at Mike or Will. I'd def take a look, a guy with that much size and power as a weapon for Spags front 7 is a good idea.

And Ive seen him own Russell Okung on several occasions, as well as other tackles in this league. Not that Okung is an HOFer, but Brooks has a nasty side that we haven't seen at LB in years. An upgrade and a veteran that has played on a top five defense recently with last year as the one notable exception.
He will end up in D.C.

I guarantee it. Hometown, his dad played there, his former GM is there and the Skins will outspend anyone to nab him.

Sounds like a Danny Boy move, fer sure. That would be a shame though, because I still think brooks has a lot left in the tank. 6 foot 3, 259 pounds and just over 30. I don't think he is spent by a long shot.

3-4 to 4-3 scheme notwithstanding, you gotta love the guy.

He's the kinda guy that sometimes disappears for a few games but always comes up big in big games. His games against Carolina and Seattle are noteworthy.

And Ahmad Brooks sacks and intercepts Drew Brees equally.

I'd hate to see him go.
NINEster: $61MM guaranteed to a QB who can't hit a barn?

Who are we speaking about?

I think I know, but I want to be sure.

If this is a redirect to insult a certain someone, things will get interesting very quick. :)
NINEster: His initials are CK.

He isn't Calvin Klein, and his cap number when you last reached the playoffs was under $1MM. Now it's $15MM. Did you think that contract wouldn't lead to some painful choices?

Losing Brooks isn't really a big deal; you already have his replacement. But he's the kind of luxury the 49ers could afford while Kaepernick was cheap. Now they have the same problem as every other team that pays full price for a QB.
