As the eighth or ninth defensive lineman on the roster, he's probably still better than Kuhn or Patterson. But that spot will almost certainly be occupied by a younger player. If the Giants had cut Jenkins instead of restructuring him, Canty might have been an option. As it is, not so much.
Canty joined the Giants in 2009, so he never played for Spagnuolo, though they probably got acquainted in Baltimore, if not before.
Eh, he could fill the Patterson role as the 4th DT assuming he's willing to play for the vet min. I think he'd be an upgrade there. Then look for another young guy in the draft/UDFA for the 5th spot (sorry Kuhn fans but he can be upgraded).
I beleive the Jints, like all teams, want to get younger, faster.
I don't think Canty (huge man) was worth nearly what the Giants were shelling out for him. He had a play here and there but was very average during his time here. Now he's older. Pass.
This. He was ineffective when banged up but a very good DT when he was healthy. If he is in decent shape and his reps could be limited and the price is right, sure.
@Ravens
Chris Canty said he doesn't plan to retire this year: I am going to continue to prepare to play again."

But having to go on IR midway through last season did him in. He wasn't still good enough to overcome that.
