assuming we resign JPP, do you think we are OK with Moore, Ayers, and Wynn? I think all three of them performed well last year, especially Wynn who looked like a young Tuck.Do we need to draft a pass rusher with our #1 pick?
were ok but would need 1 more draft pick added to the mix
NYG could absolutely use a prime DE talent right now. The problem is there's no sure thing at DE at #9, it could well be better addressed at #40 (eg, Odi/Smith/Anderson).
There just isn't a good match there talent-wise for a 4-3 DE. But there is always a need for pass rushes and some in the 2nd or 3rd round that could help. The talent they have is interesting. Moore has talent but hasn't learned the job yet. Wynn flashed and has potential. Ayers was quite good. They could stand pat with what they have but it's never a surprise when the Giants draft a pass rusher.
I agree we need to get someone good. But, Ayers is 1 dimensional,, does not play the run & who knows what we have in Moore & Wynn. But, I think Reese upgraded the CB position with DE weaknesses in mind. Barring injury, we should have been very strong at CB to compensate
with going into the season with what we have currently, but I wouldnt love it. This pass rush was dismal up until they got hot in the last 5 games or so.
Now that might have been because Moore and Wynn were finally inserted into the lineup over Kiwi or it could have been the shitty competition we played. My guess is that its a combo of both.
What it comes down to is, we need 1-2 more pieces along the DL, either at DE or DT. That person needs to be able to rush the passer. Add that, and they should be all set.
and JPP dogged it at times too. We need a new stud DE. Ayers and Moore should be the rotational guys (have JPP kick inside to DT like Tuck used to do and put Moore on the edge as speed).
Agree DE is OK...up the middle D is the bigger problem...my preference is either Shelton or in my opinion this year's OBJ on the Defensive side of the Ball Vic Beasley.
My preference at 9
1) LB Beasley or DT Shelton
2) WR White or Cooper
3) OL Shareff, Collins, Flowers
4) DE Fowler or Gregory
Would be an interesting pick. He has a proven production record, played in the SEC and had an incredible combine. He also came to the combine bigger than most expected and still was excellent in all the drills. 35 reps in the bench doesn't hurt either.
Would he be viewed as a DE or OLB and does it confuse anybody else that Ray, Gregory and Beasley are listed as DE when Dupree, who is almost 270 lbs, is listed as an OLB.
I am not all that high on JPP but the Giants absolutely need him this season and maybe next season as they draft another DE early and pick another one up in free agency either this off season or next season. Moore is the definition of unproven, Ayers is serviceable, and Wynn less so. Need a stout pass rush, can't take chances with that.

I want a new four aces.

Need to bring in one via the draft and just a body via FA. The team needs to rebuild it's stable of DL all around.
