Anyone else have a feeling, the Giants could go after him in Free Agency? He's not being talked about as much as some of the other bigger names out there. Assuming that he's recovering from his pectoral injury, I have a feeling he could be a priority. Almost reminds of me of when Accorsi signed Lavar Arrington...as he wanted another playmaker on D. I know he's coming from a 3-4, but he's beefed up over the years and I think he can fit in a 4-3 scheme. He won't be super high priced and "if" he's healthy he could be that other playmaker that this defense so desperately needs. Thoughts?
He seems like he would be an overpriced FA

The redskins radio guys down here don't seem to care for him much.
you line him up the opposite side of JPP
Andy in Boston : 2/27/2015 1:03 pm : link
and the opposing offense really has something to think about.
I think he's a great fit for the Giants. I know he's an injury risk, but if the $$ isn't huge, I would rather have him given his NFL experience instead of Beasley, Ray, Gregory, Fowler etc. in the Draft.

that's the thing....if the price is right.
I can't see how he can demand that much $$ or teams would be willing to pay him that much. The Giants know him well....he's a good player.
and up until last year
Andy in Boston : 2/27/2015 1:06 pm : link
he played in at least 15 games for 4 out of his 5 years....so earlier on he was durable....and he's only 28.

.
I think he would be pretty expensive
BillT : 2/27/2015 1:10 pm : link
He's a very good 3-4 OLB and could play 4-3 I guess. But do the Giants pay big dollars to him. I don't see them spending that much on a FA DE. Seems OL and safety have to get the higher paid FA.
He can play 4-3 DE
JonC : 2/27/2015 1:10 pm : link
The question is price and attitude. Priority? Dunno about that, but imv he is a player who needs to re-invent himself elsewhere.
Andy, I don't know that he's a good player
ZogZerg : 2/27/2015 1:11 pm : link
He didn't impress the fans down here. Maybe a change scenery will help him, but I'm not sure you get him cheap.

Andy in Boston : 2/27/2015 1:13 pm : link
I don't know how he could ask for that much $$.
He didn't even play last year...and tore his pec.
If he's super high priced, then I would NOT be interested.
I can't see a team paying him a large contract.
I'm thinking a 2-3 year deal in the $10-15 million range? I'm no expert on value...

40 Sacks in 64 games.
Always has to be accounted for.
When the Giants played the skins, I always thought that he played with his hair on fire and was physical as hell.
He is overrated...
Dunedin81 : 2/27/2015 1:15 pm : link
mediocre run defender, solid pass rusher but hasn't been a difference-maker since his rookie season and that shitty GEICO ad.
Nothing more frustrating than talent that can't stay on the field.
wgenesis123 : 2/27/2015 1:17 pm : link
He would have to be ultra cheap.

BillT : 2/27/2015 1:18 pm : link
He may not have played last year but his injury isn't that serious. He's established himself as a very good player and is still young. I don't know what he's worth but $5m per seems a bit low.
There is the question
JonC : 2/27/2015 1:19 pm : link
of roids and if that is the reason for the dip in performance.

torn pec can be pretty serious.

Anyone have any updates on his health/situation?
Isn't this pec tear #2?
Gmen703 : 2/27/2015 1:23 pm : link
not sure if it's the same one.

Torn pecs aren't ACLs.

wow....
can't imagine these injuries aren't from excessive weight lifting. I remember out of college, he was bench pressing something like 550 lbs. Lay off the weights dude.
Ok then. Stand corrected.
BillT : 2/27/2015 1:34 pm : link
That's a recurring injury. Didn't know. That certainly affects his value.

This. Injured a lot. Overrated. Not a good first round pick by the Redskins.
Um we need more sacks
ANGPASS : 2/27/2015 1:50 pm : link
and last i checked, Orakpo is another word for sack.

You're mistaken. Orakpo is another word for injured.
Eerily similar to LaVar Arrington. How'd that work out?
Victor in CT : 2/27/2015 4:28 pm : link
Arrington had a small frame and lower body, blew up suddenly in college after being recruited as a Safety to Penn State. Become bigger and more injury prone over time.
No

I dont.. not even remotely..
How?

He wants JPP money!!
Sure if the money is right - as with all these guys becoming available
PatersonPlank : 2/27/2015 5:36 pm : link
lots of the guys mentioned on all these threads could help, depending on their contract demands. I don't by into the "say no to them all" camp. This Orakpo guy could definitely help us.
One year prove it deal
rasbutant : 2/27/2015 9:49 pm : link
he needs to re-establish his value. I think he is going to go wherever he thinks is the best fit, so he can perform well. Then get the big contract the next year.

What do the Giants have to offer?? Well if they re-sign JPP he would start opposite him. Maybe Spaq aggressive style defense, maybe the big market of NY, maybe the Giants history of great Edge rushers? Maybe its close to where he lives, DC to NY commuter flight.

$11.455 million last year. F-that. Go young. Draft a linebacker no later than the 3rd round. Please Jerry.
