Red exterior, black interior. Manual EVERYTHING; no A/C, no nothing. I replaced the radio and speakers, put mud flaps on it and thought it was the coolest thing on the road.
It was a former police car. High miles. I had put a new sun-roof and a new radio but the car ran like poop. I sold it and the new owners had to put a new transmission in it.
Doesn't get the best MPG, but does have some nice accessories
it was a bomb. I could see the road though the floorboard. But it let me work through school and pay a good portion of my college costs before I graduated.

was my dad's commuting car until my sister got her license and then i got it when i got my license... 1989 volkswagen jetta carat that i got in 1998. the cloth on the roof was already coming out, the sunroof was a hand crank that you had to actually turn farther than you needed to to close the roof, and while it did have electric windows, they only decided to work intermittently. no idea how many miles it ended up with because the odometer would only work when it wanted to post- 120k miles or so. only fun about this car was that it did actually have some zip and it was a stick. its life ended sometime in 2001 when i was home on break from college when the engine decided to start smoking and we donated to charity. i'm sure that was a big tax writeoff... end sarcasm.
Heresheis - ( New Window )
Owned 6 of them the first few tears of my driving life - 3 to drive, 3 for spare parts since you couldn't find them anywhere.
Unfortunately the same parts always went bad - Exhaust manifold, tail light sockets, floorboards, etc.
And God Forbid you needed to find someone to work on them.
But they were fun as Hell to drive - as long as you didn't asphyxiate from the heater fumes.
But at its heart was the classic 283cc V-8, one of the last great engines before the Feds started intervening with their dumb air emission controls.
And don't forget the 2 speed automatic transmission.
That's an absolute beauty!
My best friend had "Dolly Dart" with push buttons for start and for the gears (instead of the automatic stick shifter).
smooth ride til the tranny fell out.

Loved every car I ever owned.
My only regret is not getting laid in it. Although it wasn't for lack of trying...
