It's just mostly speculation. I used to bother reading all of these mock drafts and what have you but they never pick anyone who is within the howling vicinity of my guess. The draft is cool. I'll usually Craft down an entire pizza before I get bored and turn on the NHL Playoffs or regular season MLB. Too much going on!

Cool story bro.
And we would be so lucky to have an '05 type offseason this year.

Isn't it? Another cool story is #FirstPlaceRangers
All of the hash and rehash of the prospects comes to a culiminating weekend. All the opinions tested. The teams selections scrutinized. The excitement or dismay evinced by posters over who was selected and who was snubbed. Glorious stuff. It's like Christmas morning with angst.
Not for me. Between the SB and Pre-season game #1, nothing beats the draft. For me it's not even close. FA is all about other team's has beens - players other teams didn't feel were worth keeping at the price being asked.
The draft, on the other hand, is Simms. LT. Banks. Bavaro. Manning. Beckham.
...in between the end of the Super Bowl and the start of free agency. That's when we really get to know cretins like Spock, some others I won't name, and soda man.
Spock's dead, both literally and figuratively, soda man will overstep and will be banned, and the rest will just continue to be cretins.

RE: The best was the pursuit of Plaxico Burress...
I just want to see some solid but affordable signings. In the draft I want the Giants to reach for the STARS. But to me the two are all part of one season. Like March coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb. Very differant but all the same. If I had to choose I would favor the draft.
But I am of the opinion that this period on BBI is kind've annoying. Everyone starts posting these elaborate mock drafts that are usually not even close to what actually happens. That or people start predicting who we're going to sign. In 2005, many of those predictions came true. Not really, otherwise.
I find the financial model of the NFL interesting and I enjoy "seeing" good cap management in action (knowing when to convert salary to signing bonus money and when not to, etc.), but BBI itself? Just a bunch of people taking educated guesses at nearly unguessable scenarios.
are obviously inaccurate, they do serve a purpose ... at least for me. I don't follow college football, so the mocks are one means of familiarizing myself with the players. I start seeing names repeatedly come up and I do a little research on them. Then come the draft, I can watch it with at least some knowledge and follow it with more interest since I have by now formed some opinions. Soda man can go watch his hockey.
is definitely an all-timer. BBI had news about Plaxico's visit before Kim Jones, who I use to see in my gym. Every day of that FA period was a madhouse.
We had a relative of a player come on here to announce
He signed then we pulled the offer and sign Pierce. Then Kareem McKenzie. Then the whole Plax thing. I got nothing done at work in March of 2005. Fun times.
RE: The best was the pursuit of Plaxico Burress...
... BBI had guys waiting for him at the gate of the airport as he was coming off the plane.
Yeah. That's when I started following this site on a daily basis. Was looking for more info on him. Didn't register and start posting for another 4 years, but that's when I found BBI and just lurked for a long time.Amazing how big a draw some people can be and the buzz they can generate.
discussion about the hypothetical future of the Giants as they go through this part of the year tends to be more fun than in season discussion, when the games speak for themselves.
It's the promise of what could come, what we could do to get better. In season, those decisions are made and the real fun is on Sundays on the field.
I'll gladly go watch hockey before I'll watch pregame and read mock-draft/scouting reports. I've said this before. Of course I care about who the Giants are going to pick, sure, but I care more about what they do on the field come game time. I don't like to sit and listen to silly radio an hour before game time. pretty boring. game time is bottle-in-pee throwing time when we all get drunkie-drunk!
I didn't even watch the draft, I think I watched about 3-4 episodes of that shitty show LOST trying to catch up on season 6...terrible. I just found out the next day. I remember everyone was saying...LB! LB! and the NYG took JPP...I could've only imagined how it was here.
My friend worked at HSS as a nurse. The week after I posted that they were all brought in and questioned. They also had to sign a confidentiality agreement. Needless to say I didn't receive any other info after that.
Cool story bro.
but but but...we coulda had jarred allen!

03/05'ers represent! Although to be honest, I'd been reading the site for a couple of years already at that point.

One poster's friend worked at the office where Plax was given his physical and he kept us updated.

I like BBI during football season farmore.
Hall signs - ( New Window )
Even the stuff that never panned out, it was fun.
I'm not saying FA is the most important part of the team building, but the rumor stuff is crazy.

Or Justin Pugh, what a garbage pick, lol.
