Troy Vincent, Executive Vice President of Football Operations ... in part ...
Some of the changes we’re considering:
Modifying what is reviewable under instant replay
Exploring processes and procedures of how a medical timeout would work
Discussing banning the chop block
Ensuring that the review process covers what was called on the field and does not create new fouls
Refining the definition of a hit on a defenseless player
Adding an eighth official
Making the extra point more challenging
Using tablets on the sideline and for video replay and moving closer to our “sideline of the future” by adopting new technology
Continuing to enhance our concussion protocol
Increasing our standards for equipment that may make our game safer

The kick is virtually automatic (5 misses in 1300 tries or something like that) and BORING !!!
The 2 point conversion success rate (about 70 tries in about 1300 TDs) was a shade under 50%. So net points should be about the same. Except we get 1200 more exciting "sudden death" type scoring plays. Not sure if they should allow the defense to score on 2 points conversions (net of only 4 points on a "pick 2").
2) Add a "non-flagrant" pass interference 15 yard penalty and reserve the "spot of the foul" penalty for a truly egregious "flagrant" foul (e.g. tackling a wide open receiver from behind). Yes it adds another judgment call, but it reduces the gap between no call and a 50 yard penalty at the end a half or a game (by allowing the 15 yard variety option).
Maybe he should rewatch the end of the dallas-Detroit playoff game to see how consistently BAD his officials can be.
Or he could watch the end of the dallas-Green Bay game and see the replay official get it right according to the rules, and yet have incredible criticism of their decision later.
If he falls down in the field of play without being touched it's a fumble. If he falls down after being touched he's down by contact.
On the Dez Bryant play, it was a ridiculous call even if I did enjoy it. He had possession, both feet down and stretched out. Should have been a catch and down by contact, but the rule is goofy.
Also I would hope the NFL looks at the way college does replay with review of every play. There is some merit to that. I would rather remove the human element and let HD video be the workhorse.
I would also hope they look at making refs full time workers and having consistent ref teams that work together throughout season and stay together for playoffs. Job is too important to be part-time IMO.
But in the end, I favor no change whatsoever. More games won or lost by the kick? That's what we want here?
Give me a break.
