nyjuggernaut2 : 3/1/2015 4:24 pm
Early rumor going around is Duclair might be part of the package. Hope that's not true.

Apologies to Girardi. Told he is now not expected in the deal. It's Moore , Duclair and mult'draft picks. #NHLtrade. #Rangers #Coyotes.
oh my God
MetsAreBack : 3/1/2015 4:28 pm : link
horrible
yuck
jgambrosio : 3/1/2015 4:29 pm : link
not happy about giving up Duclair
Supposedly we're only picking up half of Yandle's salary

Well fuck me!
Stufftherun : 3/1/2015 4:31 pm : link
Just gave up our big blue chip ...really wanted to see the kid develop on Broadway.
They must be very very confident
MetsAreBack : 3/1/2015 4:32 pm : link
in Hank coming back to have made this deal. Yandle is fine, but I never would have given up 2 very good prospects for him... let alone a draft pick on top of that.

Sather just cant help himself. JFC.
Twitter is at its worst around trade deadline
Wuphat : 3/1/2015 4:32 pm : link
time.
Holy fucking shit
redbeard : 3/1/2015 4:33 pm : link
Tell me this isn't true
Duclair AND a first?
redbeard : 3/1/2015 4:37 pm : link
For Keith fuckin Yandle??

Jesus H Christ, sather
A) This is an indictment on the Dan Boyle signing
Anakim : 3/1/2015 4:42 pm : link
Because Yandle's bread and butter is being a PP QB and a PMD. That's exactly what Boyle was supposed to do for us.

B) This isn't win now. This is win right fucking now. We're losing first rounders left and right and now we lost arguably our top prospect.

Boyle is going to be paired with Staal and Yandle is going to be paired with Klein. You can't have Boyle paired with Yandle. I really hope Sather trades Boyle and he waives his NMC
Yandle has a +/- of -31 this season
nyjuggernaut2 : 3/1/2015 4:43 pm : link
-31! And we give up our best prospect plus a 1st round pick for him! Ugh.
Another thing:
Anakim : 3/1/2015 4:48 pm : link
How are you gonna re-sign Keith Yandle next year?
AND a second rounder
Anakim : 3/1/2015 4:49 pm : link
Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 5s6 seconds ago
So complete deal Yandle and Summers and a 4th for Duclair, Moore a 1st (2016) and a 2nd in 2015. Yotes retain 50% of Yandle's salary.

Well-done, Sather. All of this could've been avoided if you fucking signed Stralman instead of Boyle.

He's on a terrible team, his +/- numbers are basically irrelevant.
Make that a -32
Stufftherun : 3/1/2015 4:57 pm : link
Slats compounds the Boyle signing with this move! Really upset we won't be able to see Duclair develop before our eyes and I'm convinced we'll never see another1st round draft pick while the cigar chomper is in charge.

Couldn't he have thrown Kristo or Haggerty in the deal? Just so tough to see the kid go.
Regardless of what you think of the deal
Kyle in NY : 3/1/2015 4:57 pm : link
Can we please not use plus/minus when analyzing Yandle? It's a flawed stat and he's on the worst team in the west.

Don't forget, Arizona is covering half his salary. We're getting a former all star defenseman at about 2.5 against the cap. Not bad.
Don't know much about him but friend from Phoenix
Coach Mason : 3/1/2015 4:58 pm : link
Who's a big hockey nut, says Rangers are getting one of top power play defense-man in entire league. Also great at starting a 'fast break' with a quick/accurate first pass out of defensive end. That could make a pretty fast team utilize it's speed even better.

Yeah but for his career his +\- is -34, and last season the Coyotes finished 2pts out of the playoffs and his +/- then was -23.
He's still young too
Kyle in NY : 3/1/2015 4:59 pm : link
28 years old. This is different than adding Boyle or MSL on their last legs.
A top
Giantfootball025 : 3/1/2015 4:59 pm : link
4 D without giving up any pieces on our current roster. Duclair was a prospect we have young wingers right now playing in the NHL. The Rangers are going for it and should be.

More assets given up for a guy who doesn't address a need.

Oh, he addresses a need. He's a PMD, PP QB, which is a huge need. The problem is that Boyle was supposed to fill that need and that fell flat on its face.
On a side note, Katie Strang is reporting on her twitter feed
nyjuggernaut2 : 3/1/2015 5:06 pm : link
That the Rangers and Zuccs are nearing an agreement on a contract extension.

Fine but he's a free agent after next season. Our window just went from about the next 5 years to these next two seasons. After that we're completely fucked salary cap wise.

This is when I wish cap geek was still around because it'd be interesting to look at that. But we've got a lot of core pieces locked up. Hayes looks like a keeper, Stepan will surely get his extension, and there are still good young forwards that could make it up soon. I think we have a bigger window than you believe. I think the window will pretty much correspond to whenever Hank exits his prime.

The next relevant thing you say on hockey threads will be your first.

Keep telling yourself whatever you need to think about me, I can deal with your delusion. Get a little self awareness and realize how consistently stupid you make yourself look on any thread, regarding any sport.

Like you should talk. You think your word is gospel the rare times you come on to a hockey thread and grace us with your presence. Your rhetoric and schtick is old and tired.

If it was up to you, our team would be Tanner Glass, Tim Kennedy, the Hanson Brothers and the Bash Brothers, so shut the fuck up.

I don't know that.
Duclair hasn't exactly been lighting it up
Lowell : 3/1/2015 5:22 pm : link
since his return to the Q. He is far from a sure thing. Second: There is no way the Rangers can win a cup with a third pair of Boyle-Moore Hunwick. Boyle is toast.

Blaming Sather is predictable but isn't he the guy who guided the Rangers within 3 overtime losses to the cup. Isn't he the guy who managed to sign Hayes who is and will be a much better player than Duclair. Isn't he the guy who got Nash and Brassard. I think Sather deserves at least a little trust here.

Third: the Rangers may feel that either or both Miller and Buchnevich have more upside than Duclair. If by some miracle they can keep Zuke and Hags or even one of them, would there even be a place for Duclair.

Getting rid of Moore = addition by subtraction.

There is no one on the Rangers defense who gets the puck on net consistently from the point. Boyle once had the knack. but no longer. He's not even on the first pp any more. Yandle is acknowledged as one of the best playmakers in league and to get him you have to give something up. I have a hunch some of the Sather haters here are the same guys who threw their remotes when we took OBJ instead of AD, or ZM. Give the trade a chance and maybe you'll see the wisdom if it.
Can you two get a room already?

Fair enough, but take my word for it.

If LeBron signs with the Knicks or Eli gets traded for a 7th rounder and Mike Glennon, then you'll see a real overreaction.
Assuming we're done with major deals

I'll be glad to see JT stick around. I still think he has great potential. The kid is 21 years old. Guys like him, Hayes, stepan, Kreider, etc. make me think we're not just all or nothing for these next two seasons. There is still young talent here.

Sather "guides" a team to one final and he deserves the b.o.d? Let's just ignore the other 14 years of falling short? Lets trump up his decent deals and ignore all the kissing away of assets and first rounders in a salary cap sport where you need to grow from within and the consistent winners are the teams who play their young guys, keep most of their picks and rarely make a move that robs depth while adding a non need?

No.

I wonder if Arizona wanted JT instead of Duclair? Or whether Sather offered JT instead of Duclair and Maloney insisted on Duclair.
