would automatically improve the Giants linebackers and secondary, the oppostion would not be able to run and the quarterbacks wouldn't have enough time to throw.

If best case scenario happens and Giants want to make a run while Eli and TC are still here they will need to re-sign Eli, JPP and Prince. They sign Suh, draft picks, a FS and hopefully a starting OG.

Stay healthy and hope youth develop.

That is an awful lot to hope for.

I just don't think Suh will be affordable with JPP.

on defense. The Giants have to improve their balance and not just improve the front 4. The biggest single weakness has been the Giants linebackers... teams will find a way to exploit them, regardless of how well Suh could play up front.

BB - the Giants have proven that they can succeed with an just an adequate LB corps -- and that a strong front improves your backfield - while it's still a team game Suh is an impact player -- and you take your shot at these kind of guys because they do make a difference

Kennard, McLean and Beason are an adequate LB corps

we have a better than adequate CB corps with Prince and DRC -- just need some depth there -- we need some safety help though

what yardstick are you using to measure success? The Giants won superbowls with average linebackers -- but we're not talking about average. The defenses have been putrid the last 4 years, specifically because of a lack of talent from the Giants linebackers. With the exception of Beason, it's debatable that any Giants linebacker from the past 4 years would break a starting roster for another NFL team.

My opinion is that we should fix the LB position via the draft. The FA crop of LBs doesn't impress me. I'd like to see a fast LB taken in the first 3 rounds. The LB position still wouldn't be great this year but a little speed would be helpful....and no McClain please.

Would RUIN the Giants salary structure, make players pissed at what he is getting paid, and prevent the Giants from fixing many other areas that are need to upgrade, like running back, like tight end, like linebacker, like safety, like the offensive line, like wide receiver. Giants were $16 mill under the cap in 09 and offered Haynesworth $100 mill.

Skins were $3 million over the cap and signed him for $115 mill.

I dont see it happening, nor do I think it is the smartest move, but if they want Suh they can find the money.

Last two times I watched the Lions/49ers square off, Suh was good but not some juggernaut. Not better than JJ Watt, whose defense doesn't always crush teams.

Maybe the Lions defense got better since 2012, but Suh's effectiveness would then be relegated more to how good his teammates are.

I think Suh going to a defense that's already top 5 would be scary, otherwise it's just a nice signing (and hopefully not cap killing).

A huge part of the reason we sucked last year was our run D, and inconsistent pass rush, he immediately makes those areas much much better, there's no questioning adding him will transform our defense, that's what HOF caliber players do (and based on what he's done so far in his career he absolutely fits the bill)
