We are 85 million under a 150 mil cap year. Only Eli , JPp and Prince are not signed and includes Beason at 6.6 mil.who could be cut for more savings. We have no cap issues all Jerry Reese has to do is sign Eli and do the typical guarantee bonus and smaller salary in year one and then we can spend or make a run at Suh.
If he is willing to have language regarding suspensions. I think the Giants would jump at that if they could get the guarantee down to 35 mil area on the 6 yr 100 mil contract.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: boy - some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill
No but you can kill Jerry for not having an adequate replacement on the roster for O'Hara which would have obviated the need for signing Baas.
You mean like grooming Adam Koets to be the center after O'Hara, a plan that got wacked by Koets' injury.
No like drafting Clint Sintim instead of Max Unger
Nice comeback Reb. Very true
Nice hindsight 20/20 comeback Reb. Very true. And if only the Giants had draft Glen instead of Wilson as well as Navorro Bowman instead of Chad Jones, right
Half of BBI was clamoring for Unger. It wasn't rocket science. It was obvious from the roster there was not someone to step in for O'Hara. The fact that the Koets project blew up is even more reason why there should have been an attempt to plug that hole earlier, whether it was Unger or some one else.
I understand where you are coming from but at the same time, I still feel that many here are trying to have it both ways. The idea of seriously completing for a title means taking some stop-gap measures over long term solutions. Yet no one is willing to wait for the younger players to develop and waste a year of Eli prime until they are forced to.
O'Hara to Baas seemed like a solid transition. Baas and Snee both crapped out to injuries before their 32nd Birthday. That's plain bad luck and it isn't something most teams have contingency plans in place for.
I keep pointing out how everyone applause the Eagles for their recent success, a bunch of it built upon depending on their oft-injured line to return to form which it did.
nice contract for him 4 yr 13.6 mil. That should put them right at the cap with only 3 contracts to play with (Romo, Smith and Carr) and money needed for draft. No Murray in Dallas then
I was please we signed Baas when we did. He was coming off a solid season and we needed him. Alas, it never worked out due to injuries.
Kiwi just never panned out despite snippets of prowess here and there. He too was hurt at times.
I do believe if we re-sign our own in Eli, JPP and hopefully Prince we will have cap space for a starting OL and FS.
Re-signing Beason was a mistake. He was hurt last year and really hasn't been great since maybe 2010!
Baas was a mistake. Not the initial signing but the two restructures. That's on Reese. No one had a problem w the initial contract. It was mismanagement to redo the deal twice when the guy had injury issues.
Why do [people ignore what actually happened w Baas?
As I posted. They were screewed cap wise and went to a guy who was not horrible in Baas but no top tier guy and restructured him twice after being always dinged up.
Also Sintim over Unger was a major screw up because Unger could play all three line positions and Sintim was a 3-4 LB who couldn't play any. So Unger could have been a hedge at both G spots C and tackle in apionch which he played in college.
Reese also passed on OL early for years. And since none of his late round shots made any mark whop the hell are we supposed to blame? And please don't say Ross. He works for Reese.
Reese was relying on Koets to be the starting center?

Hopefully they can get Eli or Prince into an extension soon.

Face it, Koets sucked.
