...wave of horrible deals Roseman handed out. Cole's cap figure was $11.6M this year and averaged almost $13M over the next 3. Only $3M in dead money by cutting him I believe.
I would guess they're getting close to a deal with Maclin.
Who started on their D last year. Cole, Graham, Fletcher, Williams, Matthews & Nate Allen. Also my buddy whose an Eagles fan says they are most likely going to cut DeMeco Ryans. Hard to replace half of your starting D. Cedric Thornton is a RFA so he could be on the move also.
10 sacks last season, 7 the previous year. Strengthen the Giants, weaken the Eagles. Much cheaper upgrade than a move a Suh. Would be great in Blue. That is an upgrade over whoever else is across from JPP. Double digit sacks IS something. Not many out there doing that.
17.5 sacks in the last three years combined. He's definitely on the downside. Injuries also hurting him.
Eagles will need to look at a pass rusher in FA to replace him or hope their 1st rd pick from last year steps up.
"Cole, 32, is the longest-tenured Eagle. He had one the most dramatic transitions from the Wide-9 to 3-4. Cole finished last season with 64 tackles and 6.5 sacks while playing 59 percent of the defensive snaps. If he returns next season, it likely won’t be at his $11.625 million cap number."
Put my comment in the wrong place, but double digit sacks is something in the NFL. Who's to say JPP gets that this season? Moore? Ayers? don't think so. He would be a good addition.

And folks here complain about Reese. Then you look at the Cowboys who are in constant cap trouble and this in Philly and well Washington's not worth mentioning. Sure, Reese has had issues too but would you trade him for the Cowboys, Eagles or Skins management.
They had to franchise JPP, I don't think they are gung ho on throwing a big long term contract at him or they would have done it. I have doubts about his health, but he is absolutely essential to the team in 15 and most likely 16. Cole absolutely fits the bill for the Giants DE need, which is a priority as high as O line. Get him, or someone of his ilk, which won't be a very long list, and draft more talent in early round to develop. May have something by 16 or 17.

It's not hard to replace those guys. Most of them stink.
they're basically just cutting a player "a year too early" rather than a "year too late". You could argue this is preferable to restructuring him, especially since he's not an ideal fit for the 3-4.
If they're cutting Ryans, they must be going after someone big in FA.

That's true, but what does that say about their backups? Are they planning another "Dream Team binge"?
I believe he was asked to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense this past year, where he always played a 4-3 defensive end in the past. However, I believe he is past his prime
I'll re-evaluate if they sign him. Til then I'll stick to it. I cannot stand this guy for countless things like diving at Eli's legs and kicking Kareem MacKenzie in the nuts to name a few.
Chip Kelly wants draft choices as ammunition to trade up in draft. I wonder who is on the trading block for draft choices? This trade is Chip kelly just getting started.

Fletcher Cox was released?

Extending Eli and/or Prince should be done to splash some more cash to use. God knows there's tons of holes on the team and they need filled somehow.
Only way I'd be interested is if he gets a deal similar to what Jenkins received.

or
SUH eeeeeeeeeeeeeet?
Maybe the Eagles are loading up for Suh.
A really good player when in his prime, but that's passed.......would not be the way to go for the Giants IMO.
