Dillon Gee VS Wandy Rodriguez!
Its been an especially long offseason Mets fans. Its been an even longer return to respectability. We may or may not make the playoffs this year but this team is expected to be good and to contend in 2015. We've waited years for this. It all starts against the Braves in Orlando. Let's GO Mets!
(Lineups to follow)
robertbrender Robert Brender
Was told Mets players no longer have their "Take the damn thing" shirts. I haven't checked further but was told they were taken back.
anyway, haven't been looking forward to baseball for a few years. first time in a long time I am eager.
hopefully the Mets get through the spring healthy and my goal is meaningful august baseball (baby steps)

"Players at spring training in Port St. Lucie, Fla. were given T-shirts that say “Take The Damn Thing,” according to Robert Brender of SNY. The “thing” is presumably the NL East, which the Mets haven’t won since their last trip to the postseason in 2006."
From 2013
""Silva, 16, is 6 feet, 170 pounds with long arms, a high-waisted frame and a loose delivery. He throws strikes and generates sink on his fastball, which he can run up to the low-90s at times. He also throws a mid-70s breaking ball and a solid changeup for his age. Silva trained with Julio Bolivar.""
No. I couldn't dip out of work today unfortunately. I took a half day tomorrow though and am driving to Vierra.
Just not sure why we should care what a ballplayer thinks. I don't ask my barber his view on homosexuality. I vehemently disagree with Murphy's stance but Bean was there and Murphy was "too honest". Made me proud to be a Met fan to read Sandy's comments on Bean. I wish I could say Murphy's comments surprise or truly bother me but I don't care what he thinks either way (or any player). He's probably closer to the majority amongst current players.
Lucas Duda (intercostal strain) plans to swing a bat today for the first time in three weeks. #mets
It's funny how his critics are kinda sorta in a weird way doing something similar. They are bashing him and saying he can't think that way, he is not allowed to have a religious belief.
Would love to see Gee have a strong preseason so we can trade him for something. We're pretty thin at 1B, so let's hope this Duda injury doesn't linger.
Like I said, 100% not complaining. Just went from Duda/Ike/Lutz/Dykstra, to basically Duda/Allen or slide over someone who is already on the roster.
If it were only for a couple weeks however, Id have no problem with Cuddy at first but hopefully not something we have to go through.
Anyways, baseball is back baby!

If we waive Puello does another team have to keep him on the big league roster in order to make the claim? They wouldn't be able to claim him and stash him right?

I know, right?
Zero chance? If he's making 20 million in arbitration and is a year from FA there is zero chance? Okay then.

Ahhhhh, that explains why the Mets FORCED Harvey to NOT pitch last year, against his will. Makes all the sense in the world now...
Dario Alvarez, Erik Goeddel, Jack Leathersich, Akeel Morris, Scott Rice, and Zack Thornton
Quote:
Harvey is released or traded because the Mets can't pay his arbitration years. Assuming he is pitching at a high level it would never happen.

Isn't the record awarded in arbitration 10M? I read Trout is expected to earn around 12M.
If Harvey pitches so well he's awarded 20M in arbitration isn't he winning cy young awards or at worst being a lights out pitcher? By then Wright will be older and Harvey will become the face of the team.
Trade is one thing which I'd never rule out, but it's silly to suggest, beyond silly actually, the Mets cut him because he's too good.

Trading him for a boatload of prospects in a walk year when he has no intention of not testing free agency is far different then the Mets trading him because they can't afford to pay his arbitration.
Agreed but I thought you were alluding that the Mets couldn't afford him in his later years and would entertain not paying his arbitration years because they were "too cheap". So in my mind that meant not offering arbitration if it was really that bad. Apologies if I took that wrong.
