NFT: Mets at Braves

ZGiants98 : 3/3/2015 10:27 pm
Dillon Gee VS Wandy Rodriguez!

Its been an especially long offseason Mets fans. Its been an even longer return to respectability. We may or may not make the playoffs this year but this team is expected to be good and to contend in 2015. We've waited years for this. It all starts against the Braves in Orlando. Let's GO Mets!

(Lineups to follow)

is there anyone exciting to watch at Lehigh Valley this year?

Franco and Nola, if Nola starts there. He may make a few starts at Reading before going AAA. If Kelly Dugan makes it to AAA he is another. Long shot is Roman Quinn. Might make his way up there late in the year. Probably the fastest player in the minors.
what about this

Herrera kid? seems like a player.
Their graduated roster is an envy

But plugging any cracks in the d will be really, really tough for them moving.

but I could see him being decent for Atlanta. Other than Simmons & Freeman their every day players are pretty crappy.

Yeah but why bother with Markakis on a 4 year deal when 2015 is a total throwaway? Can find a similar guy when you are ready to compete.

At this point with the inflated prices in FA can you though? He got 11M a year through his age 34 season. He's certainly a much safer investment than the Chris Young's of the world, and I'd say there's a good chance he ends up being a better value than Granderson at 15M in his age 36 season. Again, don't love him as a player but I could see him being decent (700 OPS/good defense) and being a tradeable asset.
It'll be interesting
Metnut : 3/4/2015 2:03 pm : link
to compare the production of Markakis to Granderson.

LOL.. and we're off!

Won't be long before we find out it's fractured and Tejada gets his spot right back.

Who replaced Flores?
Shecky : 3/4/2015 3:58 pm : link
Pretty sure Tejada didn't take the trip up, anyone who is following the game know who replaced Flores? And any news on the injury to Flores - precautionary?
Monell
DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 3:58 pm : link
is one of the relatively rare born and raised NYC guys. He's nothing special but I'm not sure he'd be much of a downgrade from Recker. I could see him playing for the 2015 Mets.

"all over the place" per someone at the game. Guy needs to improve his command or his interesting arm just won't play.

Interesting if accurate. It would tell me 2 things. 1) That they really want to get a look at Reynolds at SS 2) They view Tovar (as I believe) as simply filler.

U.S. Virgin Islands native Akeel Morris with a perfect eighth. #Mets 8, #Braves 2, end 8
yeah

walked the first two guys, he's not going to make it if he keeps this up.
Or third on the SS

Depth chart as one would suspect.

I respect him, and I want everyone to know that he was respectful of me. We have baseball in common, and for now, that might be the only thing. But it's a start.
The silver lining in his comments are that he would be open to investing in a relationship with a teammate, even if he "disagrees" with the lifestyle. It may not be perfect, but I do see him making an effort to reconcile his religious beliefs with his interpretation of the word lifestyle. It took me 32 years to fully accept my sexual orientation, so it would be hypocritical of me to not be patient with others.

4th

Flores, Tejada, Reynolds

DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 4:07 pm : link
not even sure Tovar is ahead of Muno to be honest. Guess we will see who gets more PT/placement.
Muno
DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 4:09 pm : link
last year .259/.372/.418 with 14 homers 9 steals 60 walks. He's not an MLB SS but I'm not positive Tovar is ahead of him if they had an opening on the bench for a MI.
I guess.
ZGiants98 : 3/4/2015 4:10 pm : link
I really see Tejada as the back up though. I think they would explore all three options before committing to Tejada full time again but who knows.
C'mon
DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 4:11 pm : link
You honestly think if Flores went down that Tovar would get the job over Tejada? I know you honestly don't feel that way, nor does anybody else.
Ruben
DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 4:14 pm : link
Tejada flat sucks but his wRC+ last year was 83, Tovar... repeating AA had a 93 wRC+. Tejada graded out as above average last year defensively. I despise watching him play but there is absolutely no way Tovar is ahead of him should there be a need. You don't even hear Sandy or Collins mention Tovar.
Bottom 8
DanMetroMan : 3/4/2015 4:15 pm : link
Tovar singles
Nimmo flies out
Puello strikes out swinging on an offspeed pitch
Reynolds singles through the left side
Monell flies to center
.
arcarsenal : 3/4/2015 4:16 pm : link
Tovar is fodder. He's the 4th option at SS.
For tomorrow

tejada

has significant major league experience, it would be risky to use an unknown when ur team feels its a contender.

No if Flores went down permanently I would bet they would go to Reynolds. If Reynolds also went down for the year also I think they would EXPLORE Tovar depending on what he's doing. Nobody's giving Tovar shit based upon what he did last year. He would obviously have to be performing at that time but assuming he was, yes I think he would get a shot before we went to Tejada permanently again. We know what we have in Tejada and I'm guessing he's Sandy's last resort.

Satterwhite and Robles are sleepers to see CitiField this year, Pill has some backend/bullpen upside. Ynoa had an unimpressive season but still has 'fans" with some of the experts.
Lol.

Lagares and TDA scratched too! What a game to pick! Zero starters tomorrow for the Mets!

on how robles will do, his numbers after being coverted to a reliever was impressive.

He and Mazzoni finished "hot". Mets clearly like Robles arm, clearly better suited for the pen. Bradford has a shot too. Thornton seemingly sucks given how little buzz the guy has lol

Goeddel on for the 9th:

Gosselin hits an 0-2 hanger up the middle for a base hit
Terdoslavich GIDP 4-6-3
Eury Perez strikes out swinging
I honestly thought
ZGiants98 : 3/4/2015 4:26 pm : link
They passed a new law a couple years ago that every team(split squad or not) had to have at least 3 starters playing in each game to make it fair for spring training buyers.
