Don't Shoot the Messenger...Latest Rumors...

Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/4/2015 8:30 pm
- JPP deal is getting messy over guaranteed money, but there is a chance a new long-term deal will be done before Monday.

- Jon Beason's contract re-structuring is done.

- Giants will invite safety Devin McCourty (Patriots) and Rahim Moore (Broncos) to visit. McCourty is 1a and Moore 1b.

- The interest in Ndamukong Suh is smoke.

I figured they were leaking Suh hints to prod JPP's agent.

Glad the Suh shit can finally be put to bed.

MCourty! Yes please..
Good

stuff. Thanks much.
Would love McCourty
Dave in Hoboken : 3/4/2015 8:33 pm : link
but there are alot of teams that will probably be in on him and probably have more money to throw at him than us. :(
I never thought the Giants would sign Suh...
EricJ : 3/4/2015 8:33 pm : link
too often we hear Reese refer to a guy as being "clean". Suh IMO is not clean in the Giants eyes

Eagles and Redskins both, and desperately need DB help. Gonna be a contest.
Prefer McCourty to Moore personally

Dang.
Same as Albert Hanesworth...
shocktheworld : 3/4/2015 8:35 pm : link
we got Canty, Boley, and Bernard for the same amount of money as the supposed 80 million offer we gave for AH. I'll take 3 good players over one dominant one all day long. Especially on a team with the holes we have...
My original wishlist, assuming Suh was unrealistic,
bceagle05 : 3/4/2015 8:35 pm : link
was McCourty and Cobb, though Cobb is a bit of a pipe dream.

good news on most fronts

hopefully JPP isn't pushing for too damn much. Would love McCourty at S, glad to keep Beason, and good riddance to the Suh rumors - I have no interest in Haynesworth 2.0, let that contract be an anchor around the neck of some other team.

there is NO WAY that the deal isn't done by Monday, I stake my word as a poster on it. (not that it means shit, haha)

Don't you agree?
Thanks, Eric.
Ira : 3/4/2015 8:37 pm : link
It would be great if we could get one of the safeties, considering that we don't have a single good one on the roster.
Suck I really wanted to make a serious play for

Suh.

He is the best player at his position. when is the last time we had one of those.

Very true...but for the price it would cost we could put that towards multile assets.
I've read
pjcas18 : 3/4/2015 8:38 pm : link
from a lot of people Suh to Miami not happening would be a shock.

Is JPP's agent that gullible that the masses on BBI can see the leaked news as a ruse simply to motivate this guy somehow, but the man who makes a living negotiates contracts is fooled by it like an onion article.

Makes sense. so when Suh doesn't sign in NY and JPP signs an extension pat yourselves on the back for spotting the ruse early on.

even if it never happened.

We need safeties, in case you haven't noticed, and it's only March 4th.
McCourty is who I really want.

Relying on Beason even on an incentivized deal...

...scares the crap outta me. McClain isn't starter material and if he's thrust into that role yet again our defense will suffer.

NYGTBlair : 3/4/2015 8:43 pm : link
That we need safeties but Mccourty benefitted from having Revis on his team He had 1 tackle in arc championship game and 5 in the super bowl. I hope they don't get in a bidding war for an slightly above average player cause it's a need.

Plaxico Burress' agent played hardball. The Giants let him walk and suddenly there was word the Giants were interested in David Terrell.

Suddenly Burress signed.

I figured the Suh

shit would never happen. Makes no sense at all.

That's a huge plus for the Giants to have JPP done before they enter the draft.

I'd like to hear some talk of Orlando Franklin. He should be the #1 FA acquisition this year, IMO.
Re: Safety
DavidinBMNY : 3/4/2015 8:45 pm : link
This year the safety class in the draft and FA is weak. Meanwhile the trenches has some depth to it in the draft. The real strength of the top of the draft looks to be pass rush and WR. Then there are a number of OL and DL in the top 50 to be meaningful additions. If the giants so choose they can probably make strong editions in tne trenches the first few rounds. Safety, there is almost no depth plus the NYG have young guys in Berne and Taylor, they need a. Et

would you rather play for the redskins/jets or the Giants? We've won 2 Superbowls in the last 9 seasons. We've got some upgrades to make in order to elevate our game but those two franchises are a hot mess.

You don't judge a FS by tackles. He can play single high safety and has elite range. He's a very good safety regardless of Revis.

Except McCourty's 2013 may have been better than his 2014.

He's absolutely not a product of Revis. He's a very, very good player in his own right.

Free agency is all about filling needs, and it's no secret that some guys will get overpaid because of that. There was a firestorm when we made Antrel Rolle the highest paid safety in the league, but that move turned out pretty good for us.

That would be the last eight seasons.
McCourty
pjcas18 : 3/4/2015 8:47 pm : link
isn't my first choice for FA dollars, but if this off-season pre-draft includes:

1. JPP extended
2. McCourty signed
3. An OL (like Bulaga) signed to play RT
4. Some lottery tickets like Martellus Bennett a couple years ago, like maybe at WR like Miles Austin or Torrey Smith or someone like that.

that's a solid free agency and one that will allow Reese the draft flexibility he desires.

Why should this year be any different? We had one poster last year who declared the season over on March 12th.
I feel like that counts as the annual 'season is over in march' post

I just don't want to get into a bidding war and pay him 8 million a year when we can pay Rolle 4 or less.

well we need two safeties and McCourty is much better than Rolle at

this stage.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Rolle cheap if possible.
Who was the guy that kept saying that Beckham would go on IR?
Klaatu : 3/4/2015 8:51 pm : link
I can't remember his name.
we need to fix the trenches
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 3/4/2015 8:52 pm : link
but with good safeties, our secondary could potentially become a huge strength on this team. A healthy DRC/Prince duo is a different animal from what we saw last season.

Still... please improve the trenches.

Rolle doesn't strike me as a guy would accept $4M per from the Giants. He'll go elsewhere and wake up to a very unfriendly NFL.
Some free agents

are worth breaking the bank for...Suh is one

Remember what Reggie White did for the Packers

So if true, sorry to hear it is a smoke screen as to the Giants interest in Suh
