will sign for another team than accept what he believes is an insulting offer to remain a Giant. He wonders why his back hurts but fails to acknowledge the fork entering.
I be surprised if they got something worked out. I really hope we can upgrade by getting the Pat's safety.
"Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a highly-placed league source termed a potential marriage between Mariota , the Heisman and Maxwell Award winner after a stunning 2014 season, and the Jets as "highly unlikely." The source said that the Jets aren't in the mood to pick Mariota with their sixth pick and that if the Oregon quarterback is available, the "Jets will be shipping that pick away."
The likely landing spot?
"Philadelphia would make that move and pay that price. We're talking multiple picks and a player," the source said. "The Jets would be open to moving the pick and the Eagles have internally prepared to move up in the draft. There are contingencies in place and they know that Marcus is that perfect fit."

The source said with "100 percent certainty" that if Mariota is available at No. 6 it will be the Eagles, and not the Jets, who will be picking at that spot.
"The Eagles covet Marcus and rightly so. He's a great fit for their offense," the source said. "This could be a case where the Jets could cash in and would be willing to do so. Not quite Ricky Williams level but we're talking multiple picks and perhaps a player."
They re-signed him last year for 1.43M, to be a ST's player?
With Beason out, and JW's dreadful play, this guy couldn't crack the lineup?
It has to be for vet min, and if the Giants can't bring in someone to beat this guy out in camp, it shows you how bad their linebacker situation still is....

All 2014 player contracts expire at 4 p.m. (ET), when the new league year and free agency begins. Important Dates/Times - ( New Window )

RE: Ira: That Jets/Eagles/Mariota item deserves several grains of salt.

is a better kick returner than Michael Cox though I'd say they're comparable. Still no idea how Michael Cox returned a kick that he fielded cleanly, in stride, and was tackled shy of the 10 yard line.
Hopefully the Michael Cox experiment is over - though he is good for some name jokes.
That's exactly the thing about both Cox and Jernigan. To earn a spot as depth at RB or WR you generally have to contribute to ST. Both players were given the chance and neither player has fulfilled that need. At least with Jernigan, even if only for a few games, there was a flash of talent at the actual position. But, even that wasn't enough. It is time to let both walk and start over looking for a KR and/or PR.
in his case, deserved, on balance; he may have been great in the lockerroom and a bespoke conscience for team effort and heart, but not much happening on the field the past two seasons
Last year, not as much. I've had the feeling he'd be gone for a while though. We're probably getting out at the right time. I'm a big Rolle fan, too.. but he's probably hitting a downswing now and I'd rather not pay him for the player he was.
a very significant contributor, even in decline. It's probably a combination of Giants lowballing him and he wants too much.
IMO, an honest contract would give him a 3-5 mil SB and 2-3-4 mil a year for 3 or 4 years (with typical back loading). that's a dramatic dropoff from his last couple years of salary, but he's not in his prime any more.
this is, of course, presuming his wheels still have some wear left on them.

he is a free agent who hasnt produced a thing.. You want to SIGN him to a deal ?? what for ??
Will b interesting to see if they snap up McCourty right away
But he has shown the opposite - he's a poor kick/punt returner.
Depth WR that can't contribute on specials. He has to go.
Hopefully the Michael Cox experiment is over - though he is good for some name jokes.
Jernigan too, he's replaceable.
Load the O-line, RB, TE, WR and come out swinging next season.
