and they removed his locker. I'd definitely take him this year at the right price. According to PFF he played plenty almost as many snaps as anyone else on their D and had a better year than he had in 2012, especially vs. the run. Obviously depends on a price, but a cheap 2 year deal could be a good move.
If the pats don't want him back, I don't want him either.
posted here about Wilforks age etc but our team does need LEADERSHIP as well as young talent. Giants 1990- Dave Duerson, Everson Walls, Ottis Anderson all played big roles with the team and were there for Leadership and veteran stability.
Recently- Sam Madison, Chase Blackburn and Deon Grant would be examples of guys who had their best days long gone by yet they were leaders who knew what needed to be done to win, to prepare and to deal with a full season of ups and downs.
Wilfork at the right price would bring size, strength, smarts and LEADERSHIP. I am not saying we have to go get him but don't discount his value to a team.. A team in the running for the playoffs, looking to bolster their locker room and Veteran leadership will make a play for Wilfork.
Will overpay him. He will be worth it for a year or two and then you will have a bunch of dead money when he hits a wall.
Only way he gets a 3-4 year deal would be to help amortize whatever bonus money he gets, and I doubt he gets enough to truly make a team regret it. For example, I think it would take a 4 year deal with $8M signing bonus for a team to really regret it. Assuming he's washed up after 2 years, they'd then cut him year 3 with $4M in dead money. But I can't see anyone giving him that large a SB. Maybe $8M in "guaranteed" money, but that would be a mix of a SB (amortized over the length of the deal), guaranteed base in year 1 and/or 2, and roster bonuses (not really guaranteed).
is he's one of the few professional athletes I've met.
Every year has hosts a draft day party at a bowling alley, arcade, laser tag, bar/restaurant in my town and it's for his charity so I went a couple times.
What an awesome, down to earth, approachable, charitable human being. He talked to every single person who went, took pictures, shook hands, really went overboard to make you feel appreciated. And it wasn't a ton of money to his charity, maybe $75 or something with food included.
One year I wore GMEN "Stomp you out" SB XLVI sweatshirt and he gave me some good natured ribbing (other people weren't so kind)
his wife too, so nice. even if Ted Johnson has problems with her appearance.
I don't think I'd want to sign him at this stage and I wouldn't forgive him for the SB XLVI flop if the Giants lost that game, but otherwise he's a good person and a heck of a player, still.
And his weight is definitely underestimated. I think he's 400 pounds.
did him in.....you have him at 4.5(rb), Browner at 3.6(rb), Solder's base at 7.4, and Revis with a 25M cap, moves have to be made.....
Vince was slipping before the achilles.....surprised he lasted the whole season last year.....It's still possible they cut and re-sign him for less.....there is no way he is going to get the 7.7M he was suppose to get on the open market....Pats will low ball him, but you never know....
Giants having interest I just don't see it. At least not for significant money at this stage of his career.
That's idiotic. He has a $4.5M roster bonus due and would have a cap hit of ~$9M for the Pats. Doesn't mean he can't play.
I'd absolutely take him on a 2 year deal worth ~$3-4M per. Massive upgrade to the Giants run D while they continue to develop Bromley.
Snap, Crackle, Pop...Shazaam!
Too old. Pass.
