and in a different universe where NYG LBs actually tend to play well, Carter would probably kick ass here but in the real universe, one where every single NYG LB tends to eventually break down and suck ass before too long, Carter's legs would fall off by October.
we get JPP signed to a long term deal, I don't see us being big players in FA. Maybe one marquee player, and the rest will be Jerry reaching for the bargain bin. Mara has already said we won't be as active as we have been in the past, and right now JPP is taking up $15M of our $25M in cap space. $4M is for rookies, so that leaves $6M. I assume that a long term deal would lower his cap number this year. Extending Eli would also help. But how much can we afford if neither happens?
are why I'm not fired up for Suh(besides his jerk issues). There are some DT's out there who can perform well(although Suh is in a category by himself)and they will come at a significantly cheaper cost allowing the Giants even more room for bringing in some quality help.
I would love to address the O and D lines in free agency and go BPA at #9.
But, i would consider replacing Spiller with the likes of Bush or Helu. Spiller is still looking to start and starter money. Neither is happening here. Bush or Helu are threats in the passing game and can run the ball a couple of times a game. Neither should come with notions of starting. If either could be had at a good price, I think they should be considered.
I have no clue what the $$ market would be for Fasano. I certainly wouldn't give him very much and I wouldn't bring him in to start.
Franklin is one of the few "big" name FAs I think the Giants should pursue. He is strictly a RT or Guard and that could keep his price down.
Spiller turned down 4.5 annual from the Bills and I would hope the Giants would not offer more than that to a RB who is ineffective between the tackles.
Rahim Moore interests as me as I think he will be cheaper than McCourty. Also, Jason LaCanfora is reporting the Eagles are expected to pursue McCourty hard. I wouldn't get in a bidding war with the Eagles this offseason.
Bringing back Cofield would be an upgrade of Markus Kuhn or Mike Patterson. Cofield is only two years older than Kuhn.
turned down 4 mil from Buffalo. So at that price I'd rather go with what we have and draft a young kid.
Reports from the bills. Could have been 1 million grantees with 3 million on incentives. Incentives could have been win league title in rushing, be an all pro, carry ball 250 times etc.
NFL contracts are screwy who knows how good or bad that deal was.
and I think the Giants are going to go hard after him considering he can play LG and RT. I do not see the Giants going after Spiller. I think they will look to the draft for another runningback.
on the Franklin bandwagon and have been since middle of the last season. He has the versatility the Giants have liked out of their linemen in the Coughlin era.
Almost done, and done, respectively IMO.
Otherwise A+.
5 INT's last season...when was the last time our ENTIRE LB group even combined for 5 INT's?
Otherwise very solid...reasonable plan.
I'm scarred.
We just need Spiller as the COP back, honestly I'd be happy with signing Spiller or drafting Duke Johnson,Ameer Abdullah or somebody like that.

#1 Guard -Orlando Franklin, Iupati, Boling
#1 Safety - Devon McCourty, Rahim Moore
#2 Safety - Searcy, Parker, or Stewart
Starting LB - Carter, McClain (?), Ayers (?), slim pickings
#2 DT - Knighton, Cofield, Williams, Odrick, Thornton
#2 TE - Gresham, Green, Daniels, Fasano, Fells
Would have to do diligence on McClain, but he would be a nice get if the NYG think 2014 was not a fluke.
S: Searcy
DT: Paea
LB: Carter or Weatherspoon
RB: J. Rodgers
TE: J. Green
