Anyone know if the Giants were in attendance?
"Beasley wants to prove he belongs in games for more than just third-and-long."
"I felt like I've elevated my level as a linebacker," he said.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Beasley held his own in drills with two of the Tigers starting linebackers from last fall in Stephone Anthony and Tony Steward.
"That just shows you the kind of guy Vic is," Swinney said. "He looked pretty good and didn't have any issues at all out there in linebacker drills with two very polished guys."
So Bill Bellichick, Rex Ryan, and Chip Kelly were all there. Definitely some major buzz around this guy since the combine. If the Giants were to take a flier on a "tweener" this would be the guy. He is strong, fast, instinctive, and can put on a few more lbs if needed. I like the idea of drafting him, technically as a LB, playing him on the weak side, and having him put his hand in the dirt on 3rd down. A four aces/nascar package of a Beasley, Moore, Kennard, and JPP sounds potentially devastating to me.
If he weighed 255lbs I think the Giants would run to the podium if he was there at #9. At 246, he might be close enough. This defense needs playmakers and a guy like Beasley helps fill two positions and is an impact player at both.
I go back and forth over who should be on the short list a #9, but for me, Beasley is certainly on it.

I can see him wearing number 55 and becoming a fan favorite. God please let him be there at 9 and God please have Reese select him.
Moore? Not ready to be annointed anything.
Additionally, I think he would add such athleticism to the LB corps. Something we've been lacking there in the middle of the D. I do not see him as a 4-3 DE. I see him as more of a Von Miller type of player.
He does seem like a special talent.

I know I know, I feel so ashamed.
Going against my better instincts here, but this defense needs help and he seems like an impact player to me.
Whatever JonC is going to say, I know I will agree with. I'm just ignoring it tonight and dreaming.

If Cooper's gone, I would be very happy to have Beasley. Everything I've read, says the guy can just flat out play. I think OP hit the important points.

Very tough call, I like both players. Cooper to me is a can't miss talent and at the end of the day, would probably be my higher rated player.

Agree that we should strongly consider Beasley, but if you had to chose between Beasley and Cooper, who would you take? This could actually be the scenario we are faced with.

I'm with you Dave
Falcons or Chicago...
Is he one-dimensional?

But I can see him going to the Falcons right before we pick.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think he makes it past ATL. He looked great on tape pre-combine and his great pass rush skills really worked against him in that, why wouldn't you send him after the QB every down?
That being said he weighed in 11 pounds more than I expected crushed the bench press and demonstrated the speed, quickness and fluidity that he can pick up the LB position. I didn't really like him at all @ 9 pre-combine. It's a shame. He showed the athleticism to be a top 5 pick.
I could also see him going to the Raiders or the Jets. He has to be especially intriguing to the Raiders opposite Khalil Mack, we all know how they feel about athletes. Not a pass rush duo i'd like to be facing for the next 10+ years.
Beasley actually started only 1 year (13 career starts at Clemson). He's explosive, but truly undersized for an NFL DE. Would the Giants draft an LB at 9? I doubt it. Anyway he should be off the board to a 3-4 team, IMO.

Maybe one nose tackle is easier to find than continually looking or two DT starters, depth at the position and non-stop DE.
Would Beasley and Moore playing OLB would put as much pressure on the QB as the Giants DEs? Heck, Beason and McClain could play the middle.
Giants2012. With JPP franchised and Spags coming back, talking about a base 3-4 defense is a waste of oxygen. Spags would defenitely use Beasley as a 3rd and long DE.
As much as I want him, I think Reese will go another direction, plus I would be shocked if Atlanta doesn't grab him.
Either way, Beasley is a stud athlete and will be a great pro.
If NYG decides they can't pass on one of the edge rushers at #9, so be it. It would signal a shift in philosophy for them, but as Torrag has said recently, spread offenses and the speed on that side of the LOS might dictate adding more speed and AA to the defense moving forward. Teams are mitigating DE with quick drops ...
If you look at the top 3 rounds the Giants draft pattern has been heavily tilted toward WR,CB,Pass-rusher.
The big if with Beasley is are they willing to guy for a hybrid guy that high up. He's pretty much got the production as a pass rusher combined with the freak measurables but do they beleive he can play in space? (I think he can). Honestly, I think it's either him, a surprise other pass-rusher or one of the WR's if we get an starting caliber OL in FA.
