if he is cut he can go anywhere he wants. If you are a team who wants him and the price is low (comp price) then why take the chance he signs with someone else.
because he is clearly talented and this is the 2nd team trying to unload him. To me that adds up to locker room malcontent, as there hasn't been any off field trouble.
Then again they didn't seem to care about that with Harvin...

Brandon Marshall has serious mental issues and has a phenomenal job living with it. He does charity work as well. He could be a locker room problem but it is also just as likely that there is a new coaching staff in town that wants to rebuild the team in their eyes and Marshall is an older player that still may have value and can free up some cap room.
I understand why but I'm saying I dont think its a smart move. His next team will be his 4th and it's well documented that hes pretty much a locker room cancer. Jets are 40 mill under cap, if bmarsh is released and they wanted him I'm sure they can get him.
if you trade for him, you inherit his current contract sans the pro-rated bonuses. In this case his contract for the Jets (or whoever gets him) would be:
In other words, ZERO guaranteed money and it's essentially 3 one year deals. If his play slips, you cut him with no repercussions.
If you wait until he's cut by the Bears, you'd absolutely have to include some guaranteed money, meaning if his play slips and you cut him, you take a dead money hit against the cap. For reference, the 33 year old Boldin last year signed a 2 year $12M deal with $4.5M guaranteed. The younger Marshall, would surely receive at least that on the open market (probably at least double the length and guaranteed money).
I haven't heard any negative issues with Brandon Marshall Â

Miami traded him to bears, now bears trying trade him. Has to be something right?
There were issues the first two times. He seems to have a better control of his life now. Once again, I think too many are looking too deep into this. The Bears are a fucking mess. They need so much help and freeing up some of Marshall's contract helps them. Their defense needs to be rebuilt into a 3-4 so that will take some time. They need to get some OL. Forte is getting older. They need to start getting younger.

Excellent analysis. The only question is whether he's worth $7.5M this year. I could see it either way.

Bring in a quality veteran QB as the starter. Draft Mariota. Give him a year or so to acclimate to the NFL (strength, pocket presence, etc). Then he starts.

He's a prototypical Jet.
Bears have agreed to trade WR Brandon Marshall to the Jets pending a physical, per league source.
Yeah, they may go D or OL instead of WR if the two QBs are taken.

Of course the Bears may now go WR
Still:
Rd 1. Cooper
2. OG Tre Jackson
3. DT Xavier Cooper
4. LB Paul Dawson
5. TE Nick OLeary
6. LB Ben Heeney
7. RB Thomas Rawls
7a. CB Cam Thomas

Still think with Fox, and as bad as their defense is, they'll go D.

Could go receiver with 2nd pick as position is stacked especially if they like any of the hybrid pass-rushers.
Jets drop down get extra picks, the QB to build around and suddenly a bad situation looks a lot better.
