This isn't a knock on you but the first ballot Hall of Fame designation is bullshit. These writers have their own agenda. It used to mean something. Now it is just a bunch of whiney writers playing God.

Obviously its up to the writers, who I agree, are very tough to predict or see a pattern in their voting choices.
That aside, I was merely asking do his numbers warrant first ballot selection.
I think he probably should be. However, these WR numbers are getting watered down with all the passing in today's league so his numbers won't look as great.
so he's obviously a HOFer. But I just cant kick the feeling that we have no idea if he was really a HOF level player but for Manning. When you played the Colts, did you ever say "oh shit, what are we gonna do about Wayne?" I dont think so. Obviously the focus was on Manning, but even leaving him aside I felt like Harrison and James (and maybe even Clarke) were guys who got a lot more game planning than Wayne.
Maybe Wayne was just a quiet HOF superstar -- I didnt follow the Colts enough to have a solid opinion.

I always thought he was a great receiver. It is funny that people always make that argument that Manning makes his receivers better but Manning has played with a ton of great receivers (and at least 2 HOFers)during his career, both with the Colts and Broncos. It is the same reason I think Brady is better
Dallas Clark wasn't gameplanned against more than Wayne.
One thing in Wayne's favor is that he didn't fall apart against the physicality of the playoffs the same way Harrison did, and Harrison is 100% first ballot.
I think he's a HOF, but not first ballot. I like to think those should be reserved for all-time greats... and I don't think Wayne is in that class. Definite HOF IMO though.
who knows when though. the writers act as if they hold the key to the heavens when it comes to this shit. guy has had a wonderful career, class act too. Id love to see him catch on somewhere else and ply as long as he can.

Did he ever face those murder charges?
