I know people will kill it because it's the Jets but it's a good move for them. He's still a very good player and his contract isn't prohibitive in any way.

It's definitely a good move, especially if it is a mid-to-late round pick like has been reported. The problem is Marshall might not be a force by the time the Jets field a good team.
Bring in a quality veteran QB as the starter. Draft Mariota. Give him a year or so to acclimate to the NFL (strength, pocket presence, etc). Then he starts.
amount of money tied up on WRs if they kept Harvin. Atleast this should open up a better probability for Amari Cooper/Kevin White being available at #9.
Not necessarily the caliber of player but the jets save 10 mil by cutting harvin AND give up a 6th instead of a 4th...plus upgrade with Marshall over harvin. They also gave themselves leverage for a trade with the Eagles.
he had an injury plagued season and still put up 8 touchdowns. He's a nice big redzone target, but his days of being a top 10 receiver are over. Still, if they can get him the ball, he will have a big game or two next year.

people on here would be going crazy over what a steal it was.
I hate the Jets as much as anybody, but it's a nice pickup for them.
Not for the contract we would have to take on.
The Jets have much more cap space.
His contract isn't bad, unless you think last year was the beginning of the end rather than just an injury plagued season (his 2 seasons prior were awesome). And even then it's not bad as I pointed out above.

They will need good coaching, because Marshall won't be very tolerant of a young ineffective QB.

Expected to be a 5th round pick going to the Bears for Brandon Marshall. Next step for Jets likely to be parting with Percy Harvin
Bears need a WR now -_-
wonder if Idzik would have made this move baaahaaahaaa
Is the trade for WR Brandon Marshall a precursor to a trade by the Jets for QB Jay Cutler?

Mike, Yes, most guys in their 60's-70's can't play football very well.
