Looks like he's squarely on the Giants radar...
The Giants are showing interest in free agent FS Rahim Moore.
Devin McCourty is the crown jewel of free agent safeties; Moore is the next best thing. The Giants plan to pursue both, though signing McCourty would come at a greater cost. Moore is expected to command $5-8 million annually while McCourty could go for as much as $10 million a year. Even if Moore doesn't end up in New York, it's a near certainty he's done in Denver. |
Unlike McCourty I've watched very few games involving Rahim Moore, anyone have strengths/weaknesses on him? At what value would you see would be an overpay for him?
Not much there, but they both think their teams will survive losing each player.

That is free agency in general. Teams don't usually let franchise guys go and when they do its because they get super expensive
McCourty is a good starter - nothing more. If he's looking for Pro Bowl $$$ u gotta pass.
Rahim Moore is a fringe starter with major holes in his game. if he wants $5-8M per LMAO!
That's some scar. - ( New Window )
I wonder. Nicks had that his rookie season.
Depends on your definition of special. To me, Beckham Jr. is special and you can't afford 11 "special players" on both sides of the ball you need to supplement them with solid starters, Moore fits the bill of solid starter.
wtf has he done to make u so crazy about him? he's played a bunch for the broncos and produced very little. also suffered a serious injury. i'm not going to sit here and act like he's better than he is

Like who, OBJ? You said he's a fringe starter which is pretty fucking dumb.

WTF has he done to make you say stupid sh*t like he's a fringe starter? Stevie Brown is a fringe starter.
Rare is the free agent that's actually worth the contract he gets. They're all overpaid. You're not just paying the player's value, you're paying to beat other offers.
Rolle was at one point the highest paid safety in the NFL.
Five ints last year means doesn't "make many plays on the ball." How many would suffice for you? Moore gave up one receptions very 41 snaps last year, good for sixth best among safeties. So please explain to us this plays on the ball nonsense you're talking about. Sounds like you pulled it from the same place you pulled the "fringe starter" crap from.
No but when you don't draft and have the talent young and cheap you gotta pay, it the way of the business.
What does Tom think?
I'm thinking if we get 2 the 2nd will be Jeromy Miles...less expensive.
Trel is a leader, and leadership matters.
Moore in the right scheme will be a better player then McCourty. I think him with a healthy Prince & DRC would be scary. Hopefully we can go out and get Da'Norris Searcy also. Would be a very good young secondary.

wouldn't "Help" but he is not a $5-$8M player. sorry

Well said. Also if you sign him you're hoping he gets even better. Dude is just turned 25 a couple weeks ago. Many times you're also paying for potential in FA. I think Rolle is an example, every thought he was way overpaid, just a good player recently converted to safety. I think we'd agree he earned every cent of that contract. They signed a good player as he entered his prime, hoping he can become very good.
Beatty also signed with the hope buy a guy on the ascent.
Rather than paying top dollar for a player at his peak.

And this. when you do sign a FA, its expected the guy will probably be overpaid, and/or paid for what you project a guy to become. Solution is draft better, FA has to be a supplement to be sustainable

Nice post.
Moore is an obvious target for the Giants IMO. As much as I like McCourty I'm surprised to hear we're going to try and pony up $10m after the deal we gave DRC last year. If Moore's range is $5-8m, the Giants could make a competitive offer on the lower end of that scale. Moore is a good player just entering his prime. A solid citizen who practices as hard as he plays. And played a full season (and played it well) coming off a serious injury. He's a pretty good consolation prize. Then add another S either in the draft or FA who can compete with Brown, Behre and Taylor.
Given the dearth of Safeties in both FA and the draft, what any FA Safety gets this year is simply a matter of supply (limited) and demand (very high).
