I had figured they would give him a second-round tender to lock him in. But they might risk the low tender, even though he was undrafted and would carry no compensation at that tender level. After all, they could still match an offer, so the risk is fairly low.
do you think it's possible that the info was read on BBI then a beat writer picks up the phone, calls his sources and says it's already out there can you confirm?
That makes much more sense than using a website as a source.

he's good but not that good. I'd rather spend that on the front seven than to watch him tackle RB's 8 yards down field. Just seems like too much salary cap to dedicate to safety given the weakness in the front seven and OL.
Moore, younger and cheaper, makes more sense to me.
Apologies if this offends because it's not meant to. But with all due respect, anyone who follows this team knew the Giants needed safety help and anyone who knew the market knew McCourty and Moore would be targets. This isn't exactly groundbreaking news, guys.
So let's get a reality check here. Reporters can't just throw out the first thing we hear and/or read on the Internet. Most places require multiple sources to verify a tumor before we run with it and some places, because if the red tape involved don't even allow their reporters to post a rumor unless a source can be named. It's all about credibility and, perhaps even more importantly, liability.
Rolle was mostly a strong safety. McCourty and Moore are both free safeties, no? The Giants were like tied for third-most deep pass plays allowed last year. Not all Rolle's fault mind you. Also Rolle might have 2-3 years left. A younger guy might be able to give you 5-6 more thus the bonus money can be spread out to lessen the cap hit.

My impression is that sports reporting is a different breed and allows for much more rumor and lightly-sourced material than what I'd call classical journalism. Is this true or just a false impression?
Regardless, I'll leave the verification of tumors to my doctor or Arnold Schwarzenegger ;-)
Or would they attempt to pair Rolle and one of the signings?

To me this means Rolle is gone. Honestly, I wouldn't pay what McCourty and Moore will be asking for. They just are not good enough to justify that.
Reese should be looking at Parker and Searcy. Also, I hate to beat a dead horse but Will Hill remains the best option in FA. Did Baltimore tender him?

I think he has posted under his name in the past?

He's a restricted free agent. Not going anywhere this year.

I wish you had hated to say it so much that you decided not to =)

One of them may be starting when it's all said and done.
