How good is Devon Kennard?

OdellBeckhamJr : 3/7/2015 5:40 pm
I want to like him but his good games came against teams that were pitiful (Titans) and as a result, I really don't know what to think about him.

Do you guys feel comfortable with him as the starter at Will or do you think the Giants could do better?
Solid.
est1986 : 3/7/2015 5:57 pm : link
No where near as good as BBI claims he is..
He looks
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/7/2015 5:57 pm : link
like a very good forward moving type LB but not so good in space.
We'll learn that this camp
SGMen : 3/7/2015 6:14 pm : link
They say the greatest leep of ability occurs between year 1 and year 2.

I have faith he'll be a solid starter.
We're due.

.
solid nowhere near as good as BBI says
Headhunter : 3/7/2015 6:20 pm : link
Who the fuck are you? And why do you know more than BBI?
We'll have a better idea next season.

So far it seems he's a keeper, which is something considering how bad our draft picks at lb have been.
He is the only guy
mrvax : 3/7/2015 6:30 pm : link
outside of the Dline that was able to properly blitz during the reign of Perry Fewell, IMO.

I think he is a good young LB and I hope he continues to learn and get better.
I think has has some basic...
BMac : 3/7/2015 6:42 pm : link
...good tools. The defining conditions will depend much on how Spags uses him, and if he can remain relatively healthy. I think he's at least solid.
I don't think we really know......
Doomster : 3/7/2015 6:44 pm : link
he made some plays, he missed some plays.....he has to come into camp healthy, and stay healthy......all he has to do is be an average linebacker.....that's head and shoulders above what we have been throwing out there with the likes of JW, Herz and Paysinger....
he played well
NYG4246 : 3/7/2015 7:09 pm : link
last year. thats as far as ill go to this point. he has a way to go

Toth029 : 3/7/2015 7:16 pm : link
He played well. And with some pass-rush ability. It has been a long time since the Giants had a LB with a sense of that talent.
he I'd a solid lb
Mike B from JC : 3/7/2015 7:17 pm : link
With good passrush ability.I think he can become better.he is young and will get better.
Well, he's a thumper...
M.S. : 3/7/2015 7:35 pm : link

...and that's why a once promising Jacquian Williams won't be wearing Blue in 2015.
He hasn't played enough
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/7/2015 7:39 pm : link
However, I think we upgraded at DC, so maybe he won't peak as a rookie like Williams did.
He can tackle
Rjanyg : 3/7/2015 8:32 pm : link
Good pass rusher. Sets the edge when asked. For a 5th round pick he flashed a good amount of talent.

Give the guy a few yrs for Christ sake
Jim Burt64 : 3/7/2015 8:34 pm : link
But he showed alot of promise as a rook. I would say b/c of his size & football intelligence.. MLB
He is a decent LB. Nothing to go write home about
Jimmy Googs : 3/7/2015 9:11 pm : link
but a guy that should have no trouble making a 53 man roster and even start a fair number of games for a team with a weak LB corps.

He is not going to turn into a all-pro if that is the purpose of this thread...
I
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/7/2015 9:19 pm : link
think he's better than many on this thread give him credit for...but he has to be used properly. Have him attack the line of scrimmage.
He is somewhere between
blueblood : 3/7/2015 9:33 pm : link
LT and Clint Sintim..
He is mostly a guy that says if this is the LB competition on this
Jimmy Googs : 3/7/2015 9:41 pm : link
team, then I like my chances...

Strongside Linebacker
57 Jacquian Williams
54 Spencer Paysinger

Middle Linebacker
52 Jon Beason
53 Jameel McClain
97 Terrell Manning

Weakside Linebacker
59 Devon Kennard
58 Mark Herzlich
If we run the defense
Joey in VA : 3/7/2015 9:57 pm : link
That Spags ran in his first stint here, he'll be a fan favorite. He has a nose for the QB and times his blitzes, both run and pass well. He will struggle in space, but with his skill set, expect to see him play the role Kiwi and Kawika Mitchell played under Spags, which is to say he'll be huge in spots, then invisible in others. Spags tends to not hang his LBs out to dry as did his idiot predecessor. He will be a 3 down LB though, because on 3rd down my guess is he'll be coming after the QB.

If Fewell was the DC, I'd be worried, but we have a DC who actually thinks about each opponent and deploys a plan.
he's the first rookie LB we've had in a while
gidiefor : Mod : 3/7/2015 10:24 pm : link
that actually and some impact right away on defense
Jacquian Williams
TommyWiseau : 3/7/2015 10:27 pm : link
Got a lot of praise after his rookie year and then we got jack shit. I'll wait and see how Kennard looks in his second season before I proclaim him the next Jesus

The big question is where is his best position inside or outside he looks like a beast at MLB, that could be a good outside LB this team is desperate at both positions.
not as good as bbi says? fucking hilarious
Tuckrule : 3/8/2015 9:25 am : link
anyway...hes a good linebacker something we havent seen from a rookie linebacker since probably armstead.

Hes a good blitzer which he has shown. He has power and a strong base. Doesnt get pushed back in the run game and can hold his own. Always around the football and theres a reason we as fans all noticed him once he hit the field. The guy makes plays and ins around the ball and a very good tackler.
