Would be a very solid stable of RBs
Big Rick in FL : 3/9/2015 8:29 pm : link
He is an awesome receiver & a pretty solid receiver.

But how is he as a receiver?
He'd be a really good fit for this offense.
arcarsenal : 3/9/2015 8:31 pm : link
.
He's exactly what we need in our RB rotation
jlukes : 3/9/2015 8:31 pm : link
I'd take him for 4.5 mil a year
The Patriots are interested in Helu
Defenderdawg : 3/9/2015 8:31 pm : link
Which may be a sign that Vereen could be moving on

Lol the 2nd receiver
Big Rick in FL : 3/9/2015 8:32 pm : link
Was supposed to be runner
Vereen is a fantastic receiver
jlukes : 3/9/2015 8:32 pm : link
Hell, he runs some routes better then a lot of WRs.
$4.5m?
Torrag : 3/9/2015 8:32 pm : link
Free agent price tags are running high but that seems steep to me.
The RB
shocktheworld : 3/9/2015 8:33 pm : link
I want the most.... Perfect compliment
This
bigfrank612 : 3/9/2015 8:35 pm : link
Is the perfect back for McAdoo's offense.
Once again..
EricJ : 3/9/2015 8:37 pm : link
like the idea on the surface but we simply do not develop screen plays that well. Would need a lot of work with the O-line and Eli and designing and executing these plays.

There is a lot more to it than just the RB's ability.
I like him
Andy in Boston : 3/9/2015 8:39 pm : link
Alot- plays fast
Ericj
Big Rick in FL : 3/9/2015 8:39 pm : link
It's not about screen passes. The guy runs WR routes out of the backfield.

most, I like him, but $4.5M. Wow.

like having two vet RBs on mid-sized deals. It's also concerning that he didn't get more carries for a NE team that didn't have a great RB corps.
I said this on an other thread
lono801 : 3/9/2015 8:57 pm : link
To me he plays bigger than his size. I was shocked he is only 5'10/205
Isn't it obvious by now?
Big Blue '56 : 3/9/2015 8:58 pm : link
He will re-sign with Pats..

Alas
He would be perfect in a WCO 26 years old
blueblood : 3/9/2015 9:00 pm : link
catches well.. Knows blitz pickup.. Knows assignments.. Runs routes like a WR.. He wont get a huge deal though.. too many running backs in FA and too many coming out in the draft..
I like him a lot
NYG07 : 3/9/2015 9:03 pm : link
But 4.5 mil a year? I'll pass and take a mid round RB. The draft is deep at running back.
Works for me

last time we won a superbowl we had 2 RBs on decent contracts right! ITS A LOCK!!

too bad
TommyWiseau : 3/9/2015 9:09 pm : link
Eli can't throw a screen pass to save his life
That's a lot of money for a team that is on a budget
Mason : 3/9/2015 9:10 pm : link
good fit but too costly.
to me
NYGTBlair : 3/9/2015 9:11 pm : link
that is a crowded backfield. I would rather draft a RB
Not worth the money
Chip : 3/9/2015 9:11 pm : link
I agree mid round draft pick. If you are going to overpay for someone pay a DL or OL.
This guy is not worth it
Fish : 3/9/2015 9:16 pm : link
Belichek made something out of nothing out of this guy. The fact he barely got carries means he is not a RB that can carry the rock. Which means every time he is in the game you know the Giants are passing. Too much money for a one dimensional guy.
4.5 sound pretty high..
blueblood : 3/9/2015 9:20 pm : link
Meanwhile, Vereens market has shaped up at $3.5 million per season, according to a source, which is becoming a standard mark for free agents.

BB isn't some end all be all barometer. I've watched almost every Pats game the last few years and BB is just flat out strange with RBs period. I believe he purposely doesn't committ to someone to keep teams guessing. Vereen not getting carries doesn't mean he can't carry the ball. go look at how many carries Sproles had last year vs how effective he was. He had less than 4 carries a game.

I love the potential for Vereen in this offense. Obviously not a position we should overspend on but I'll wait until I see the numbers before commenting on that.
I want the scat back from Atlanta who burnt us for a long TD....
Emlen'sGremlins : 3/9/2015 9:26 pm : link
....last Season. He Had 5 TDs With Minimal Touches And Is Super Fast.
Outside of OBJ, we have zero speed....

Guy is a scrub. If we are going FA speed receiving back Vereen is a perfect fit. I would like Spiller better as a potential starting RB too BUT.. Jennings Andre Brown and Vereen is nice. We had to spend in Free agency because our draft pick busted in Wilson. Need those picks elsewhere.
Perfect WCO receiving back
dpinzow : 3/9/2015 9:38 pm : link
Lots of potential especially when Beckham clears out a side to go long
He was outstanding in the Super Bowl
penAndDrink : 3/9/2015 9:44 pm : link
made a lot of big catches. A pass catching back like Ben Shane Vereen would add another dimension to McAdoo's/Eli's offense. Not screen passes, but short routes that turn into first downs.
That said, I think Pats would really want to keep him.
Or, Roy Helu Jr., who is also a good receiver.
I'm a huge fan of Vereen
PaulBlakeTSU : 3/9/2015 9:49 pm : link
He is a tremendous safety valve for a QB and was a huge part of Brady's success this season.

My only concern is that we would be paying him for his Brady/Belichick production value and I'm not sure we can utilize him as well as they did.
.
Danny Kanell : 3/9/2015 9:51 pm : link
He'd be an excellent fit in our offense.

Make this one so.
Vereen
Mr. Nickels : 3/9/2015 9:53 pm : link
had 11 catches on 12 targets in the Super Bowl for 64 yards.

Any idea how many of those were 1st downs? The guy can move the chains. Can get it done running the ball if need be.

Sounds like the Giants are very serious contenders for Shane Vereen, according to a source. Terrific backfield receiver and solid blocker.

Hey, I like Vereen. I am just pessimistic in our ability to take full advantage of his skills.

for that money...he is not worth it.

Get Pierre Thomas at the league minimum or draft someone.
i would love vereen
ANGPASS : 3/9/2015 10:10 pm : link
that would be like having two rashad jennings. since they both give 8 games a season, when can use jennigns for 8 and vereen for the other 8.
He'd be
Metnut : 3/9/2015 10:11 pm : link
a great fit for the offense. I'd prefer OL/DL/S, but we gotta take upgrades where we can find em.
Nice...I requested Vereen be at my table at Sat. night's charity event

There's a very good chance that the Giants can sign Shane Vereen, per source.

On the fence about Vereen. He disappears in some games
Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 3/9/2015 11:02 pm : link
but has had some outstanding ones. Coming off a SB, how hungry is he to win another one? Could just want to find a cash cow in Giants and become Ham 'n' Egger.
Living in New England I saw a lot of Vereen. He would be a
