Ereck Flowers

What are the thoughts on this guy in the scouting community. I have been envisioning trade scenarios down to the middle of the first round and think he would really fit as a LG and eventual LT replacement. Watching youtube video of him, he looks so much like a young jason peter. Big, Wide, athletic, and mean.

He looked

Plodding and clunsy at the combine
I really really like him

some scouts/experts have him falling into the 2nd round.
The guys has great intangibles, and Mayock and Kiper both say he could be a pro bowl RT. I thought he did pretty well at the combine. He succeeded against great competition in the ACC, was a team captain, All American....I think he's everything you want, except he's just no an "elite" LT prospect.

I would be happy if the Giants took him #9, although some people would say its a real reach. You could the move Pugh to LG, and you have Flowers at RT for the next 10 years. That's my opinion.
really like him at RT, lacks the feet/AA for LT

but trading down is always a small percentage play.

. the picks for oline are well identified and not this guy

at #9. Mauler with size, who could really develop. But needs work in pass protection from what I've seen.

are all there. He is a guy that takes pride in defending teammates, likes to beat people up. I love that. I want to like Flowers....but

He is as sloppy as inconsistent as it gets. I don't think he can play LT in the pros. Which is fine. Upside at RT is cool with me no matter where you pick in the draft...but even there I think he is a guy that will get eaten up badly at times. The athletic tools are there but he needs a lot of development...then he needs to show consistency. I don't think he helps a team until 2016 at earliest...and there are a handful of guys I like more both near and long term.
I think that he often misses hie designated block or quickly falls

off him, but then continues to hit anything in sight. Agressive, and a guy I think could wind up as a really good RT. Unfinished, seems to me to be a guy who should go 20-28. Not sure I'd want him starting as a rookie with Eli at QB; he'd work a lot better with a more mobile QB. But definitely a prospect.
I hope you mean Jason PeterS, with an s.

Jason Peter (Christian's younger brother) was the junkie nut job Carolina took in the first round in 1998.

Jason Peters had a weird early career path, but yeah, I'd take the finished product.
Pure RT prospect in the NFL imo...

He'll maul people for a decade. Raw right now and will need some coaching to iron out the wrinkles. He should come off the board in the 17-22 range imo.
Big fan

He has a mean streak and meaner punch. He's a guy that plays through the whistle and dominates in the run game. He uses his strength and long arms to win at the POA. However his feet need work--ALOT of work. At the combine he had arguably the worst kick slide of any lineman there. However I believe he can be coached. Great intangibles as someone said and while he gets more consistent with his feet I could see him at guard in the meantime. Some team may even decide to keep him there and just let him dominate.

Either way, tackle or guard, Flowers is one of my favorite players in the draft. I think he'll go in the top half of the 1st rd and in what is increasingly looking like a 'white' chip draft in my humble opinion he's one of very few players I'd take the gamble on potential at 9.
THE GUY IS MEAN
MiamiHurricaneFan : 3/20/2015 10:16 pm : link
RAW SIZE, BIG, AND HE's A MEAN SOB.....I THINK HES RT..PRO BOWL RT FOR YEARS...
Not at 9
blueblood : 3/20/2015 10:21 pm : link
you need to get a top notch player in the top ten.. not a really solid guy..
Love this kid.
Optimus-NY : 3/21/2015 4:16 am : link
He's on of those John Madden type of ball players: mean, tough, rough, and gruff.
Seems a bit slow a foot to play LT in the NFL
Jimmy Googs : 3/21/2015 6:15 am : link
not an overall bad talent though at RT maybe. Need to seem more run blocking videos to judge...
Did anyone see Shane Ray own Flowers....
CBSGameFace : 3/21/2015 11:27 pm : link
when they played?

Ray is light in the britches and had a superb game against Flowers. Pass. La'el Collins is a better prospect, IMO.
It's hard to say anyone owned Flowers
BigBlueCane : 3/21/2015 11:47 pm : link
given the debacle that is the Miami football program.

Flowers will improve dramatically with coaching isn't led by a buffoon.
At 9... NO WAY
blueblood : 3/21/2015 11:59 pm : link

On the left side of your keyboard, near the bottom you will find a key that says "caps lock" on it. This key might interest you.
Prototype RT prospect
Torrag : 3/22/2015 12:17 am : link
Mauls in the run game and plays mean. If we trade back you gotta believe he will be in the mix.
I like him if we take Cooper
Phil in LA : 3/22/2015 12:18 am : link
at 9 then trade back into the first for Flowers or sit at 40 and hope one of them makes it.
