trying to get Carr to take a pay cut make more sense. Making him a June 1 cut and then getting creative with APs deal (big 2016 bonus and/or year 2 guaranteed base) could get it done.
A long term deal for Dez or another Romo restructure (supposedly their against this) would also free up some room.
the cowpukes are apparently willing to go into cap Hell... Â
if I were AD (yes, AD was his original nickname "All Day"). Improved OL, great defense and creative offensive coach. Could be a really fun offense to play in if Palmer stays healthy.
Minnesota has a hard enough time getting players to come there . If they let one of the greatest backs in NFL history leave I think the fans will turn on them a bit.
Team management has egg on thier face right now with how they handled the situation. AP is pissed , as he should be . The team treated him guilty until proven innocent . They need to force AP to stay , kiss and make up.
He will retire as the greatest Viking to ever play the game.

You could be right. I'm not certain of the attitudes towards AP in Minny after he beat the hell out of his son with a switch and made him bleed..Just sayin'

I'm absolutely understand its a rough subject , but he was cleared of all charges. That's where the Vikings have egg on thier face.
Why he was cleared ? ....good lawyers ? Pictures looked worse than reality ? No scarring ? Mother is a nut case ? ..... Not sure we will ever know. But again , he was cleared of the charges .
he wanted to be a Cowboy a couple of months ago, and didnt JJ make a boarderline tampering comment about 'a team would certainly want' an AP type player?
Then comes the agents comments yesterday, and likely true, it'd be best if he was out of Minny.
While the Ravens are going clean, JJ, ever the contrarian, would have a child abuser, a partner abuser, a drunken murderer, and, of course, Dez and his X-files.
Dallas, the new Cincy.

I live in MN. Fans here are pretty split and they absolutely would not turn on the team if he was dealt. They're actually as optimistic as they've been in a while after Teddy Bridgewater's play down the stretch and love Zimmer (for now).

He plead no contest and was fined and sentenced to community service.
If that means he was cleared we need to redefine the word.
Based on the Hardy deal, it's a 1 year shot, not even a 2-3 year window. And they've already lost a number of key defensive players from last season (Carter, Selvie, Melton, Durant, Specncer, Hayden, etc).
are probably 2-3 years (at best) away from competing. So dealing AP for multiple picks and then grabbing Gurley/Gordon could really help them in the long run.
Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, who said, “as a Cowboys fan, this was a shot in the gut.” On the Hardy signing -
AP might be a "whack on the back with a leather switch"
(I'm not making light of this) Media will have a shitfest if this goes down.
Minnesota has said it would not cut or trade Peterson.
Stephen Jones has said Dallas would not be pursuing Peterson.
But it's a headline story, so it does not matter that it will not happen, it keeps the "clicks" and the interest on the story going.
Dallas will address the RB situation in the draft. McFadden and Ryan Williams will battle for the #1 spot in training camp, and the rookie will provide depth. The backfield of Murray, Randle, Dunbar, and Clutts of 2014 will all be gone in 2015.
cap number is 27M, I'm sure they can creatively cut that in half (or more) when they need to.
$10.7M of that is pro-rated bonus money (signing bonus + multiple restructures). And $15M of his $17M in base salary is guaranteed. So there isn't much incentive for Romo to restructure (assuming they can even convert the $15M in guaranteed base to a restructuring bonus) since he won't really be increasing his guaranteed money.
I think there were also reports earlier in the offseason that they want to avoid restructuring Romo due to concerns about his age/back and the already large amounts of guaranteed money owed to him in 2016/2017.
The talk is that Randle will be cut because the team can't trust him. McFadden will actually be used in the Dunbar role, the change up back. Ryan Williams is the RB that would project to #1. The draftee would be the #3 RB. There were two FBs signed in free agency that would replace Clutts.
but it's a good thing that they'd probably give up several 500 yd, 30 pt games as well!
Hardy is a great player, but they've lost a number of D starters (without replacing them) and if they were to get AP, they'd have less draft picks with which to replenish the talent.
gave up 30+ points in two games, and 400+ yards in four games. Dallas did not give up 500 yards in any game last year.
Dallas lost Carter and Durant, but signed Brinkley, Gachkar, and Rivers. Dallas will also draft a LBer. Dallas lost Selvie, but signed Hardy. Dallas lost Melton and resigned Hayden, and Dallas will likely draft a DT(Malcom Brown I hope) also. Dallas lost Sterling Moore, but signed Cory White and a CB will also be targeted in the draft.
To outsiders it would appear that Dallas has only lost players in free agency, but Dallas has acquired other role players to fill those slots, and there is still the draft.
and he was arguably their best LB last year. Hardy is a definite improvement over Selvie/Spencer (if/when he plays), but the rest of the Cowboys acquisitions are likely downgrades compared to the players they're replacing.
And that's quite a few holes to fill via the draft, especially if they trade multiple picks for AP (and create another hole by cutting Carr to make the money work).
McClain was their best LBer last year, but your forgetting that Sean Lee returns this year.
There was an article that last years injured players for Dallas will provide the team with enough players that there are not as many holes as are perceived. If Dallas can have a good draft, then the team should be just fine regarding starters and depth.

I agree AP is a dream, but that just leaves a gaping hole at RB (sorry, McFadden/Williams is a massive downgrade from Murray). If they address RB in the draft, that's one less pick to address other needs.
Sean Lee has never played 16 games in a season and will now be 29 before the season starts. Counting on Lee is like counting on Cruz and Schwartz to return healthy.
I'm not saying Dallas won't be good, I just don't see how they are going to be significantly better than last year and I don't think they were good enough last year to win it all.
it has been an almost forgone conclusion that if the Cowboys lost Murray, they would end up with AP. The Vikings playing hardball with AP may be putting a wrench in the plan, but I wouldn't underestimate how much Jerry wants him and AP's willingness to take lesser money to play for the Cowboys.
there is a very good chance he re-signs with the cowboys. I have heard rumors that the Cowboys would like for Sean Lee to play outside with McLain back in the middle. Plus they are really high on Hitchins who was a rookie last year.

AP's not taking less money to play anywhere. The whole "issue" with the Vikes is that he has no guaranteed money remaining and wants them to renegotiate some terms to add guarantees.
Between now and week 1 they only owe AP $250K. They can sit on this and wait for the right deal. A team that wants him will be in more of a hurry to get him in before camp starts and possibly redo his contract. If Dallas does go after him I hope the Vikes make them pay dearly.
But, he's from TX I believe and if both sides want to get it done (meaning AP and the Cowboys) I guess it could.
Only remaining question is what's the compensation for Minny.
A long term deal for Dez or another Romo restructure (supposedly their against this) would also free up some room.

If the Cowboys can afford Peterson, the Giants should be able to afford any free agent including Suh.
Peterson-->Cowboys makes sense in keeping with the image.
