As a big King fan that's watched a ton of games this year, it simply comes down to not being able to put the puck in the net. They had a 4-5 week stretch where they played poorly but it just seems like every goalie plays lights out against them. Dustin Brown especially.

They're not super talented. Not putting the puck in the net isnt a luck issue -- for an elite playoff team, they're never in the top 4 in Western standing points.

Fact is that there is a tradeoff when drafting. You can take skill, skating, heaviness, and effort/intangibles. The Kings pretty clearly are willing to sacrifice on skill when they draft to get guys better at the last 3 categories. Rangers right now are willing to sacrifice heaviness at the NHL level (without #1s it tough to gauge their drafting). Kings model is obviously working out for them -- 2 Cups proves that. But the "lack" of skill in the lower half of their roster I think explains why their possession isnt converting to as much scoring.

They're a bit plodding and their game is predicated on crashing the net and using their size. IM not impressed and I wasn't impressed last year. Throw tons of pucks to the net, interfere with the goaltender and teeter on the boarder of interference. Clean up junk. Rinse and repeat.

What the hell went on here?! Just back from MSG and thought I'd catch up on some game assessment but instead the thread was shitwashed with soda spray!
