Stapleton/Ehalt: Jennings says Giants offense can be "dominant"

Defenderdawg : 3/24/2015 2:33 pm
“I think we’re going to have a dominant offense,” Jennings said. “Eli [Manning] is really comfortable in the offense now. I think we can control a lot from the line of scrimmage. Victor Cruz coming back healthy, Odell [Beckham Jr.] is stepping up, [Rueben] Randle is stepping up outside on the edges, and also some younger guys filling those holes, offensive linemen coming back healthy. Picked up [Shane] Vereen, and Andre Williams is down here training with me now so I’m sharing every secrete I can with him so I’m excited for this push this year.”

"Offensive lineman coming back healthy"
Love RJ's enthusiasm.

I hope it's contagious - especially when the team starts, you know, practicing or even... playing.
"sharing every secrete"

ew.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.
What do you expect him to say?
Reb8thVA : 3/24/2015 3:03 pm : link
We will probably suck. We can't run because we can't control the line of scrimmage?

They really have a nice stable with a jack of all trades every down back, a power runner, and a 3rd down specialist who is a reliable blocker with great hands. No stars, but if healthy more than good enough to get the job done.
On Sirius this am, Jennings added

"Eli better understanding the offense" to the list of other improvements he expects in 2015, fyi.

"Offensive lineman coming back healthy"

Oh!...little blurb...still though...is that actually GOOD news? Haha
missing pieces
area junc : 3/24/2015 3:49 pm : link
absolutely, the offense was incomplete last year. install, taking their lumps with inexperienced players (Donnell, Richburg, Williams) and we did not have a backfield to run our full playbook after wilson (and then jennings) went down

vereen adds a dimension, as will the cruz/OBJ tandem. We still finished 10th in total offense last year even with all the issues
Randle
NYGIANTS86 : 3/24/2015 3:54 pm : link
does diddly outside the numbers. Go back and watch him, all the good things he does is inside the numbers. Which would make him a great Slot Receiver, but no way Cruz is going to be able to start the season (or ever maybe) be an outside receiver. Which is why I am not opposed to a WR as our #1 this year.
I agree with him
Milton : 3/24/2015 4:14 pm : link
The key to the offense is health. If the draft can add a starter at OL and another WR to compete with Randle for reps (and as insurance against Cruz's injury), they should be as good as any offense in football.
The most important key to our offense
nicky43 : 3/24/2015 4:16 pm : link
and the missing ingredient for at least two years now is the O-line. Will Reece finally fix it this year. Based on his past performance I can only logically doubt that he will.
Look, there's no doubt that we're weak upfront
Mike in Long Beach : 3/24/2015 4:22 pm : link
But I do think it's worth noting that we won't come out of the gates with an automatic 0-2 start because Eli wasn't comfortable in the offense yet. He clearly has it down pat. I think thats significant.
NYGIANTS86: Diddly?
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2015 4:30 pm : link
You call this diddly?
Granted, it's just one play... - ( New Window )
More diddly!
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2015 4:32 pm : link
You can't stop Rueben Randle outside the numbers.
You can only hope to contain him! - ( New Window )
He's a TD machine! (If you view very selectively)
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2015 4:35 pm : link
Dominant outside the numbers he is!
Patrick who??? - ( New Window )
Regular season, preseason.
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2015 4:37 pm : link
To Rueben Randle, it's all the same.
Diddly that! - ( New Window )
His TD against the Falcons was near the sideline too.
Big Blue Blogger : 3/24/2015 4:45 pm : link
You get the point. With regard to Randle's TDs, at least, you have it exactly backwards: he does diddly between the numbers.

Rueben Randle has many flaws. One thing you can't accuse him of is being strictly a slot receiver.
I agree it can be dominant
blueblood : 3/24/2015 4:54 pm : link
but it must get consistent line play, at least one more reliable target in the WR corps, and stay healthy.
It all depends on the O-line.
SHO'NUFF : 3/24/2015 7:33 pm : link
Based on what we saw last year, they can't run block for shit and is shaky as hell in pass pro. TE's can't block worth shit either way. Jennings is smoking crack.

What's with the Eli understanding the offense better comments? He seemed comfortable with it last year. It's the other players that need to catch up to speed (ahem...Randle).

LMAO! "But Rashad....it's so chunky." HAHAHAAHAHA
I don't think the offense was
chopperhatch : 3/24/2015 7:45 pm : link
the problem at the end of the season. The defense was a sieve. Run blocking def stunk but got better towards the end. Should be better with Richburg at C and hopefully either a draft pick or Brett Jones at G.

I too love Jennings. Really think the addition of Vereen and a rotation with Vereen, Williams and Jennings should keep #23 healthy. I think this O can be a tough match up if we can get one more piece up front.
