NFL Season: The Lull. It's here, isn't it?

FranknWeezer : 3/26/2015 11:57 am
All the Free Agency excitement has come and gone. The owners' meetings and new rule changes are in the reaview mirror. No big scandals going on now (Deflate-gate, Rice, Hardy, etc.). The draft is just far enough away.

This is a tough time of year for an NFL fan. What can we do to make it to the draft?

"No big scandals" is a good thing. I always avoid those threads like the plauge.
Sweet 16

MLB start up, and NHL?NBA winddowns, even if you are only of minor interest will keep you going for next 3 weeks.
Then the 10 days before the draft the anticipation will really kick back up.
There might be another trade, or a JWinston arrest that kicks things back up.
The lull started for me
Mike in Long Beach : 3/26/2015 12:09 pm : link
when Victor Cruz on the ground in Philadelphia grabbing his knee.
No way...

between now and the draft is pretty busy...

The only real big lull is late June (after OTAs and the veteran mini-camp and the start of training camp in late July).

This.
Ok...well then this is a 'baby' lull
FranknWeezer : 3/26/2015 12:16 pm : link
and it's still tough to deal.

This is the time when all of the inside info re: draft prospects
BLUATHRT : 3/26/2015 12:22 pm : link
and draft trade rumors really kicks in.

Yup, that is the real silly season around here.
next big day....
kinard : 3/26/2015 1:16 pm : link
... is the release of the 2015 schedule in a few weeks.

My second favorite day of the off-season (after draft day).
schedule day
YorkAveGiant : 3/26/2015 1:28 pm : link
always rules. the preseason teams and dates likely will be out next week or say the wed or thurs of baseball opening day week.
Schedule day is very important to me
Route 9 in LEH : 3/26/2015 2:12 pm : link
because I attend one or two away games annually, I have to fight around school and work during the football season. It is great to get a good look at the schedule months in advance and it is an exciting day. Last two years were perfect for me because I went to the Cowboys opener in Dallas and that was prior to school, the second one was the Jacksonville game and luckily happened to fall on Thanksgiving weekend so I could spend the week down there.

I'm thinking about attending the Buffalo or Minnesota game and hopefully those aren't in January. Hopefully, the offense doesn't yield two touchdowns like the two games I went to. Hopefully.
From now up until the draft kind of sucks.
Curtis in VA : 3/26/2015 2:16 pm : link
And then from June to the start of training camp it sucks again.

Then training camp is exciting. Then everyone gets injured and it sucks again.
We still get to see people's pointless mock drafts.
Gmen1982 : 3/26/2015 4:51 pm : link
Especially when they label them "unrealistic mock draft" Those are especially great.
I like the draft and I like free agency
Mike in Long Beach : 3/26/2015 4:54 pm : link
But it doesn't do much for me compared most other die hard football fans. I enjoy (attempting to) understand the cap as well, but at the end of the day, I'll all about Sundays... more so than most. I get just as excited when the big player is drafted or signed, but there is so much nonsense conjecture thrown around in the build up that I rarely can get excited for anything.

2005 was the exception. That was outrageous.
*I'm* all about Sundays.

Mock drafts are pointless, but yet I find them more compelling than any scandal thread about deflated footballs and Ray Rice. That says what I think about people's mass opinions about Current-Topic-X.
now we get draft rumors
eli4life : 3/26/2015 5:07 pm : link
Followed by a few big days during the draft. Not to be outdone by the weeks /months of Reese is an idiot or Reese sucks because he didn't take my guy threads
For me it's
chopperhatch : 3/26/2015 5:07 pm : link
btwn the draft and training camp. Even OTAs don't interest me. But right now I am reading every thing I can about draft prospects. My draft preference for the Giants has changed like 7 times

Route 9 in LEH : 3/26/2015 5:10 pm : link
Mike. Yup, I agree. I'm game time all the way. The draft is somewhat fun but all the banter pales in comparison to the excitement that NFL football on Sunday brings to my living room. Say what you want about priorities, but nothing else is better.
Next big thing
tomjgiant : 3/26/2015 6:12 pm : link
is the schedule, can't wait for that. When that comes out you can really start to think about next season.Who do we open with, the dates and times of the games, now you can begin to make plans for next fall.Myself,I want to see when we are in Florida for possible road trips to Miami and Tampa, also New Orleans.
No way...
Damon : 3/26/2015 6:52 pm : link
This is the time in Free Agency where Reese usually starts to sprinkle in some nice bargain signings.
Damon
Sneakers O'toole : 3/26/2015 7:49 pm : link
that's what I'm waiting for, to see how he approaches this stage of FA
