All you have to do is scroll down and read!

It's written by Patricia Traina of Inside Football, also a contributor here, no?

Sorry for passing along the article...
I hope Pierce is right about Kennard...

I will be happy if the defense can just get off the field on 3 and 15, or hold a few 4th qtr leads...I'm not greedy.
Thanks.

Very insightful and exciting to read and hear from AP.
That was a good read

AP is a good interview.

I hope they have Kennard shadowing Beason in those meetings.

I think they'll do somewhat better than that.
I'm still concerned about the amount of pressure theyre going to

generate with the defensive line. There arent three all-pro defensive ends there like in 2007-2008. If that part doesnt come together I dont know how successful they will be.
That was a good read

AP was certainly our field general. Who's the next one going to be? I think the article rightly points out both the positives and negatives of looking to Beason for that role. Beason does seem the likely guy to step up and be that guy, but as it says in the link, can he physically still handle it? I guess we'll find out

Agreed. Spags was having trouble until that 3rd game verse skins. His talent rose up, the nascar package was born and the rest is history. Hope he unleashes someone this year.
Really good read

I like the idea that part of the plan is fast LBs to stop the read option

Because, you know, it would be great if we could avoid the kind of debacle we saw in that fucking loss to Jacksonville last year
Beasley's gonna look so awesome in Giant Blue...
Dave in Buffalo : 3/26/2015 8:25 pm : link
they have placed more of an emphasis on getting the front seven in order, where one of the goal appears to be fielding mobile, athletic guys who can also stop the run.
My abiding memory of Spags
English Alaister : 3/26/2015 8:32 pm : link
is him teaching technique to the DTs in the middle of a game. His ability to adjust to what the O throws at them and concocting schemes on the fly was awesome. I expect some of our players to take a big step.
great
chopperhatch : 3/26/2015 9:23 pm : link
Stuff. Im pumped. Think JT Williams might be the steal of free agency. Surprised we dont hear more about him as Mike in training given how we hear about him filling in for Poz last year in JAX

I guess you forget what Seattle did to us with it and our DC showing off his toothy grin?
This was key
blueblood : 3/26/2015 9:33 pm : link
We ran a lot of under-fronts so it was like we had five d-linemen on the line of scrimmage, and the majority of the time we blitzed Kiwanuka,” Pierce said. “That’s where I kind of see them going with Kennard.”

I have been thinking we would see more 4-3 under fronts
Draft a blue chip disruptive defensive player
djm : 3/26/2015 9:51 pm : link
And this dline could be really nasty. Spags would have a lot of toys to play with and you would have a lot of competition at front seven.
The one thing I
rocco8112 : 3/26/2015 10:32 pm : link
hope for next season more than anything is for the D to start trending upward. It has been a rough last few seasons on that side of the ball.

That's

Agreed, across the board.
Kennard flashed ability to blitz effectively at the end of last season

I can't wait to see what Spags does with him, I'm expecting big things there.
I believe Spags will get better production out of Moore

Does everyone forget that in 2008 Strahan was retired and Osi was hurt? Spags had a higher ranked defense in 2008 with pressure coming from a banged up Tuck, Kiwanuka and guys like dave tollefson
shooting gaps
area junc : 3/27/2015 9:40 am : link
good to hear from 'fierce' pierce

his point on the front 7 being able to penetrate is huge: Fewell's scheme was exactly the opposite - hold the line. yet we acquired at least 2 players - Cullen Jenkins and Damontre Moore - who are outstanding penetrators.

JPP - hankins - jenkins - Moore has a chance to be a very disruptive front 4. bromley is another guy who likes to shoot gaps
