Tyree's catch was the most amazing and exciting play I can think of. LT recovering the fumble to squeeze the life out of the 3-PEAT 49ers was like a gift from the football Gods.
and no mention of the Annexation of Puerto Rico? Son, I am disappoint.
For me, the long yardage play. Any time Eli sets back and you know he's go deep, it's exciting. Probably the most exciting is a Kickoff or Punt Return that the runner eludes several would be tacklers to finally take it back to the house. Long play, lot of action. Watch David Wilson's 97 yarder as another example where you can see he hits the turbo button right before getting to the first row of blockers.
Some of my fondest football memories, starting in 1984 with Mowatt, then of course Bavaro... It was a perfect play for Simms because it was pretty straightforward, one-read stuff where he could draw the safety up and then just let it fly.

Yes!!! Love it. My dad still gripes that they should bring that play back.
For example, the Tampa-2 dropped the MIKE into the deep middle. Unless he bit hard on play-action, the QB had to either look to a second option or put extra air under the ball to clear the LB, which meant more time for assassins like John Lynch to line up the crosshairs. And then there's cover-3, which I think of as a direct answer to the seam threat, whatever its other weaknesses may be.
There have been so many great ones over the years, where it looked like the runner was caught, escaped , ran over someone, and then outsprinted the defense for a td.....
Off the top of my head, the last great run I remember, was the Lynch run, in the fourth quarter, against NO in the playoffs....34-30 with under 4 minutes left in the game, Lynch just runs through that NO defense for 67 yards and a td....
Some of the greatest I ever saw were from Jim Brown and Earl Campbell....You just shake your head in awe after some of those runs...
of a well-executed screen pass to the RB. Nice seeing all the lineman get out front and make blocks and the RB get through into the open field. Too bad the Giants haven't been good at this lately.
A ball carrier dragging multiple defenders with him
Think Bavaro or some of Marshawn Lynch's best runs.
I also like plays where a RB is running down the sideline and the WRs are right there with him delivering blocks on pursuing defenders. Plax was really good at that.
where my team stuffs the run. Love that because I remember loving being in the trenches during those plays and that's when slow fat defensive tackles can be the star.
that was there, didn't I tell you boys? Just keep matriculating the ball down the field. The best football play is a well executed run. A draw, an off tackle run, Joe Morris running over the 49ers in the playoffs, Gayle Sayers running back a kickoff, the perfect combination of grace and power. even Barry Sanders running side to side, losing a yard, but the next play he went 60 yards. OJ running 80 yards from scrimmage and the Steel Curtain couldn't stop him.
Flea-Flicker has long been one of my favorite plays
like Beckham's. I was in the middle of talking to my wife and laying down on the couch and I was literally in mid-sentence when he made that catch and I jumped up to my feet and yelled 'GET DA FUCK OUTTA HERE!'. Scared the shit out of her because she wasn't looking at the tv when it happened so she didn't see it when it happened. When she saw the first replay she was like 'Wait... he caught that?!'. LOL!
was another play that made me stand to my feet. The one where Eli threw like a 40 yard pass along the right sideline to Toomer that Toomer grabbed as he dove into the endzone. Just a pretty pass and catch by the two of them. I'll see if I can find a clip of it.
there's just something sweet about the timing and precision it takes on both the QB/WR to nail a good back-shoulder pass. Eli to Plax. Eli to Nicks. Eli's thrown some great back-shoulder passes in his day.
A halfback toss when the OL is playing well. Just cool to watch all those big bodies pull and move to the second level, while the RB tries to figure out the hole to hit.
A big hit in the secondary is still a favorite of mine even though the NFL is moving away from it. Nothing gets me out of my seat like a big hit.
A DL just overpowering OL is also great. I love it when I see opposing OL get pushed back into the ground. When JPP unleashes his raw strength at times, it's awesome to see how far back the OT gets tossed back.
You never really saw the end of game play we ran with Ron Dixon against the eagles before then. Ever since then it's been standard throughout the league (little 15 yard in with the misdirection toss to a burner)
A big run that involves some carnage to the Defense
When Eli starts slinging the back shoulder fade because it's on, you can bet he keeps going to it until the D proves they can stop it.
And they usually can't.
The moment I started thinking nicks might really be done was when he stopped hauling in those passes. Couldn't even get airborne enough to get back to the ball faster than the CB then later that last season, Eli basically gave up throwing that route.
We started it up again with OBJ last year, I'd bet we see a heavy dose again this year.
Parcells called one a season back in the day.
When they can snatch the ball out of the air so close to its release point to me it is the most difficult play in football.
And seeing the big guys mow over tacklers on their way to the end zone is awesome too.
any INT
fumble recovery in the green zone, in either direction.
any PD at any time in the game
You see the receiver breaking free, the ball goes up, the crowd rises in anxious anticipation, the catch is made and the crowd goes wild!

without a dooubt
Sack in the endzone for a safety.
Ka-Boom!
So, I guess I like a lot of Amani Toomer TDs.

I mean I don't think there is anything that fires you up more then watching something like OJ Anderson deliver that uppercut, or BJ trucking Landry.

goal line stand

any PD at any time in the game''
ok, so for offense, I would go with first and goal:
= Run 4 times.
