Giants Meet with Rutgers TE Prospect Tyler Kroft.

TC : 3/27/2015 4:31 pm
According to Walter Football, the Giants met with Tyler Kroft at his Pro Day. This can mean anything from saying hi, to serious interest.

Kid reportedly is a decent blocker and maybe more. Tall, athletic. The Huddle Report's Robby Esch pegs him as a likely early 5th round pick.

The Giants need a TE
Should have stayed one more year at Rutgers

I guess a weak TE class plus Rutgers deemphasizing passing to the TE made it too tempting.

Right now he's a decent blocker and nothing more. I'm not saying that can't change.

What would be perfect for him would be to land on a team with a veteran TE at the end of his career. Let him ease into the NFL his rookie year.

Pretty good speed, Not great hands a worse version of Howard cross but who knows
Even though it's a weak class...

There are still a handful of decent prospects that should be available to the Giants on Day 3, should they choose to go that route. Kroft, Koyack, Heuerman, Jesse James...take your pick. We could use the help.

He's nothing like Cross Kroft became an almost adequate blocker this year but not in the Cross mold. He's a pass catching TE who had a QB who couldn't throw the ball. He's a very under the radar kid who if coached up, could surprise!

I agree Mick7. He's a better TE then most would suspect as he wasn't used all that much in the passing game, but was more helpful in their running game.

KWALL likes Kroft and he was a big proponent of his NFL comparison, Kelce, when he was in the draft.
Giants can use a TE....

especially one that could block. If he is still there by the 6th round the Giants should take him.

Kroft should have gone back to school. He made a mistake coming out even in this weak class.

He was a WR in HS and bulked up at RU. He has some pass catching skills but he isn't close to Kelce as a physical football player. He doesn't run & punish tacklers like Kelce. Kelce also has better movement and quickness.

Kroft made a lot of big plays in 2013. I don't understand what happened to him last year. It wasn't the QB. Nova isn't consistent but he can get the ball down the field and make throws.

RU also had an excellent OC calling plays. A guy who really knows offensive talent. I don't know why Kroft wasn't more productive.

He had a big drop early in the year and then didn't do a thing in the pass game the rest of the year. As a inline blocker in the NFL he'll need to get stronger. So I don't know what you do with him. He's not really a 2 way TE right now. Not explosive enough to be a problem as a pass catcher.

I wouldn't take Kroft until late. Round 6 or 7.

One RU guy that may be an undrafted FA gem is WR Turzilli. He came from Kansas with 1 year left to play. Then he got hurt in summer and fell behind. However, he has an impressive size/speed thing going. He's long and athletic. 6'3" and seemed to make one big play each game. I think if he had another year he would have been big time college WR.

He ran a mid 4.4 with excellent shuttles at proday.

Giants talked with him at his proday and invited him to workout for them.

I see Turzilli (and LB Kevin Snyder) as the most interesting NFL prospects from RU this year.
