Not a good day yesterday. Expected Hank to give up a few and be a little rusty but it didn't help that Toronto spotted the Bruins a goal right in the beginning. Just one of those days... our rusty goalie plays for the first time in 7+ weeks, we're coming off clinching and going into the building of a desperate team playing for their lives.. it had all the makings of a let down. Hank did get better as the game wore on.
Right back at it today, though. Talbot goes today and I think he'll get one more start in one of the two games that comprise our last b2b. Hank will get the rest of them which gives him 7 total to get right.
Couple of other notes...
- Trying to get Skjei signed and to HFD ASAP so that they could possibly have him available during the playoffs as a spare defenseman.
- Marty has been skating recently and is probably getting pretty close to returning. We should see him by the end of the week, IMO.
Anyway.. fuck the Caps. We've been good at bouncing back this year so it's time to do it again.

Really playing bad hockey today.
I think it started 8-10 games ago when they went into that scoring draught. They won, but were winning 1-0, 2-1 games and struggling offensively. Then the injuries to Klein and St Louis. Now with Hank coming back with them not scoring and with some injuries ... it is a potentially worrisome time.
I would agree with this and you can make all of the excuses you want about injuries and scheduling but we're witnessing stretches of fundamentally bad hockey with a ton of unforced errors and turnovers that can easily be avoided. Why try to clear the puck through a defender in your end or make a risky or blind pass when all you need to do is fire the puck up the boards?

The entire team is making poor decisions and kicking it around the ice.

Yea he was not making good decisions. But the whole team was making plays like that today. Even McD had a couple of shitty touches.
Agreed they had better treat these last two weeks as the playoffs.
Im not happy with the last two games, but I think you need to lighten up a little bit. AV didnt look too happy either.
They'll turn it up

with a nice -2 across the board and the call up, Summers, also with a -2. Yandle ends up even somehow but if his last two games are any indication of what we can expect from him in tight checking, playoff like games against physical teams then we're in for a real treat. Fucking Kostka.2!

I'd like to lighten up but in the sample size that we've witnessed thus far, and I'm not alone here, Yandle has been dreadful at best.
When a player/s has time, makes a poor decision and does the one thing you can ill afford to do, it says a lot about that player/s. Just don't want to keep falling back on excuses is all.
Back at it on Tuesday against yet another team fighting for a playoff spot.
From now until playoffs they need to accomplish two (well, three) things.. . get Henrik Lundqvist into form and eliminate the mistakes and get/stay healthy.
That's really it. Home ice would be good to have but I'm not going to be heartbroken if we don't get it all the way through.
7 games to right the ship, lock up the fuckin' division, and get ready for Washington or Boston. We knew Ottawa couldn't keep it up. Not sure which I'd rather face.
Really looking forward to getting Klein back though. As if Micheletti didn't bring up the point enough today - he's such an important part of this backline.
4/2 @ Minnesota (playoff team)
4/4 vs. NJ (not a playoff team, but they always play us tough)
4/6 vs. CBJ (same)
4/7 @ NJ (same)
4/9 vs. OTT (playoff candidate)
4/11 @ WAS (just owned us yesterday)
There is definitely no room for letup considering that PIT and the Isles are starting to wake up again.
