I used anyone with a grade of 5.4 or better.....
DL has the most with 26 players
OL 25
WR, LB & Crs have 19
Safeties only have 8
TE only have 4
I wouldn't say NFL.com is the greatest list but I always like their description of each player......so we need to get lucky with safety! There are couple of large corners......just like a couple of large wr might end up at TE.
Happy to see the depth at OL and DL.
Draft is light on superstars but pretty solid depth,
So it is fair to consider the Giant able to find 5 potential starters if they hit on their first 5 picks
Potential is key word
OL 25
WR, LB & Crs have 19 (i.e. 19 EACH)
Safeties only have 8
TE only have 4
26+ 25 + 3*19 + 8 + 4 = 120
hen there are the positions the OP excluded because the y aren't NYG priorities, but where other teams will spend early picks:
Adding three QBs (Winston, Mariota, Hundley) gets you to 123.
Add thirteen RBs and there are a total of 136 prospects with grades of 5.4 or higher. The Giants' fifth-round pick is #144, so it's reasonable to assume that several players graded at 5.4 or above by Zierlein & Co. will still be on the board. Not saying the grades mean much, but the arithmetic works.
Well, we know exactly what the Giants think of Jenkins. They were ready to release him if didn't take a pay cut; but at a reduced salary, they basically guaranteed him a roster spot as depth/insurance. If he's healthy, he'll be on the team as either the third or fourth DT, depending on whether Bromley or another youngster passes him on the depth chart.
We also have a pretty good idea about Patterson: he's probably off the team. Maybe he was a fallback option in case Jenkins rebuffed the pay cut or Ellis signed elsewhere. At this point, I don't see him returning. Spagnuolo knows him from Philly, but that was a long time ago and I can't imagine it matters much.
I don't think the Ellis signing says anything bad about Bromley, as they play different positions. I actually think it says something good about Hankins: that he has established himself as a complete, three-down player, so the Giants brought in a two-gap run-stuffer to complement him.
The Ellis signing is really bad for Kuhn. He never showed he could play two-gap, and he's running out of chances.
