It could lead to a 'top tiered' guy dropping to us at 9.
Mariota is too talented and there is too much interest for it to at least not be a strong possibility. Lately alot of rumors Titans like him more than they have been letting on. Now ownership often times isnt married to precious personell (see Chip Kelly).
Even if it were not true and they actually are willing to roll the dice on Mettenberger, a trade up for a QB is one of the most common types of trades in the draft.
Draft obviously can go a ton of ways but one interesting scenario that deserves some thought is the ripple effect should MM go early.
One scenario I've been pondering recently:
If MM goes pre Raiders there is likely only one guy who they would pick over Cooper and that's Leonard Williams.
If TENN took Mariota or trade out for someone taking MM, only one team stands between Raiders and LW, the Jags. AND Jags supposedly love Fowler.
Who knows, but if this somehow works out, Cooper (or at least one of Cooper/White) suddenly has a shot to drop to 9.
Also for the pro edge rusher crowd, it could push one of those guys to our spot if Cooper and/or White still go.
Lots of speculation obviously but some food for thought.
Could be spike.
Of the teams remaining the two other potential landing spots are Jets and Bears. But Jets I see going elsewhere with both Marshall and Decker on board and higher needs elsewhere. Bears OT OH were heavily involved in Cooper's pro day and seem quite interested.
If MM goes pre Raiders there's a chance it's only the Bears standing in our way.

Are you suggesting that I "take care" of that pesky Bears problem?
BTW - i do believe both TN and Oak are set at QB and not even sure how talented Mariota is in the first place.
Take the dang Duke Guard in the second or third is he's there.
Redskins would do very well drafting a Mariota. it's time to give up on Griffin and groom a new QB
2.Mariota (Tenn pick or via trade up)
3.Fowler
4. Williams
5.Beasley
6. Dupree (every year DES get overdrafted)
7. Shelton (could see Bears go Cooper here but Fox has went D each of his first years as HC on new teams and Chicago needs D bad)
8. Gregory (yeah, yeah again too much talent here and he owned up to his problems)
9. Cooper
And Dupree's tape sucked. He just didn't do much this year, and tended to look lazy out there the times I've watched him.
Now watch the Giants take him and then me commit hari kari on youtube.!

yat it IS optimistic but there are more permutations which would allow Cooper to drop that aren't entirely unrealistic.
