Rotoworld/Evan Silva 7-Round Mock Draft for NYG

FranknWeezer : 3/30/2015 6:28 pm
FYI.

Haven't read through this yet but thought I'd post it and come back to it later. Evan is really good with fantasy football...not so sure about his draft analysis acumen.

not taking Gregory. Don't like the rest either.
That draft blows ass

He lost all credibility when he put Gregory #9...without so much as a whisper regarding the multiple failed drug tests.

It got worse from there. Back to the drawing board.
WTF is that?

Pure garbage.
The only pick that makes any sense in that mock is Hickey

It seems that the only given with this front office is that if there is a Syracuse or Boston College player available at a position of need, odds are he will end up on the Giants....

Love that pick for the Giants but not at that point... I hope he succeeds in the NFL. Saw him play basketball and football at Miami. I could see the Eagles drafting him though. :(
LOL, so 5th round safety picks who didn't take many snaps as rookies

will not amount to much in their sophomore seasons? So the team should draft a safety early with even less experience at the position as a solution. Okay gotcha. Thanks for the crack analysis.

I don't think the Giants will take Gregory either and I know there are plenty of reasons not to, but in a draft class this where the top 10 are lacking, Gregory is a special talent, I think he has Aldon Smith like upside and if he is the pick I'd understand it, even with all the risks.

But that being said I don't like the rest of the draft either. A developmental OL in the 4th round and 2 safeties with the other premium picks in a weak safety class?

I hope they can do better than that.
Ill conceived draft

In the 3rd round even though we have drafted SS types in the last two drafts ?

they can't keep trotting out John Jerry as a starting OL.

And they can't wait too long to address that need either. They probably have to do it by the second round at the latest or all the guys who could potentially start effectively as a rookie will be gone.

That said, drafting two Safeties is an excellent idea. They are going to need them. They are going nowhere with low-balling Stevie Brown, Cooper Taylor has played only six games in two seasons, and Thomas Gordon couldn't even make the Practice Squad last fall. If anything happens to Berhe, the Safety situation in 2009 is going to look awesomely strong.

has no sources to tell him that Gregory failed in February. As of this article his latest test failure wasn't released yet. It was made known publicly on the 25th. This article was released on the 25th. So it was written before that date. Hence it not being mentioned.

That said. I find it hard to believe that teams didn't know about the failed test in February well before the media.

I can't see the Giants taking this guy at 9. It may end up being a mistake but the organization just doesn't roll that way anymore. We all know it.

pick is intriguing. He has one year of football experience in college following a basketball run. In that one year he has developed an impressive resume. Some questions on if he is fast enough. Tough call 2nd or 3rd round pick.

draft.
Ok, it is a mock

draft so not really something to get too worked up about but seriously, it is a poor mock draft based on the Gmen's picks only. In no way do we see who was picked before and after each of the Giants picks in this mock but regardless it seems like a pretty poor attempt anyway.

Gregory at 9 makes no sense unless the first 8 went like this regardless of order: Winston, Williams, Beasley, Ray, Brown, Fowler, Cooper, White but even then Gregory at 9 still seems like a reach.

Of course a lot can happen and who knows what the Giants board looks like. Clemmings could be a high 1st on their board or Dj Humphries.

For now this seems like a very poor mock draft with too much being made about the Giants and their needs and less about the likely way in which the draft played out with other teams picking too.
