We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the entire draft and will need to be bumped occasionally to push them back to page 1 of the forum.
Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the
GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (ie: Indianapolis Colts won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) BlueManFu, BigBlueDownTheShore, odunde and uncledave will have priority to fill the vacancy. Otherwise, the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers that didn't get into the draft but were active in the draft discussion thread.
Once again, I strongly encourage all GMs to utilize the
BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of both available and taken prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible. I have saved the
GBN Big Board (3/27) for your reference as well.
Watching him with guys like Gruden he clearly knows the game and comes from a pro style scheme, but will he be the next Cam Newtwon in the sense that he could keep the distractions far enough away to take that next step or will he be the next Jeff George? I think Ben Roethlisberger is a good comp if he can get his act together
I think it has a minor impact on the decision but I think the fact that they have little at QB makes it an easier decision.
On an aside, if the god damned Browns had taken Derek Carr like I did last year they wouldn't still need a freaking QB!!! Also, Jeremy Hill and Allen Robinson would look nice in this offense.
Add to the fact that Lovie gets the chance at a franchise QB which he never had before with established weapons on offense. Staying in Florida will help sell tix as well.
Last but not least is his leadership and football intelligence. Despite all of the nonsense that team still followed his lead and did so with only one loss. His FBI's reportedly is off the chart. During baseball season he brought his football playbook on road trips. He knew that playbook inside and out and considering it's a pro style offense that's a huge leg up. His knowledge of the game has been compared to Manning and Luck. That's incredibly high praise.
Matt, thanks for doing this again.
Wow, this is first.
Also, what she said.
Wait, the Jets aren't on the clock yet. Oh, my bad
I don't think I'd have the balls to make that move if I were them. on the other hand, the draft is really the only cost-efficient way to add a talented qb. the free market will kill your cap along with other compensations. it's a tough business.
Down here in tampa , a lot of this going on . Some people love him and some people are outraged that he is even getting a shot in the NFL.
Absolutely. He's the best player in the draft, but QBs go very high, and tons of teams are angling to show interest in MM, imo to encourage teams to trade up with them for him...so why not Tennessee.
But there are a lot of people who think he will shit away that opportunity.
not sure how that makes them racist or idiots seeing that a number of players with Winston's checkered past ended up washing out due to their own lack of control.
Rape allegations don't really fall under the classification of being 'just a kid'.
ask yourself how you would feel if the Giants picked Winston ? Do you want his baggage ?
Playing in the NFL is a privilege . It should be treated as such. Too many teams sacrificing morals for wins......but that's just my opinion. Has nothing to do with race.
We all know you're picking Leonard Williams
(I'm gonna do this until Leonard Williams falls to #7...Ok, I won't)
By the way, have we decided not to post pics of our selections this year?
Fowler played all over. They asked a lot of him including dropping weight to play some LB... I think set in one spot of 4-3 DE and he will be a stud! Very excited about this pick but Cooper was right there for me. I would have loved any of Williams, Cooper, or Fowler. My nightmare would have been if they did like last year and bypassed all the QBs before the Raiders pick.
