We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the entire draft and will need to be bumped occasionally to push them back to page 1 of the forum.
Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the
GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (ie: Indianapolis Colts won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) BlueManFu, BigBlueDownTheShore, odunde and uncledave will have priority to fill the vacancy. Otherwise, the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers that didn't get into the draft but were active in the draft discussion thread.
Once again, I strongly encourage all GMs to utilize the
BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of both available and taken prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible. I have saved the
GBN Big Board (3/27) for your reference as well.
6'3"/245 lbs, 33" arms, Pro Day: 4.64, 10' broad, 4.53ss
2014 SEC defensive player of the year, SEC leader in sacks and TFLs. Consensus first team AA. Explosive athlete, who plays with great power as well. Explodes off the line and plays with passion. Tenacious football player with strong hands and upper body. Can drop into coverage as well. The only knock on him is the lack of ideal length, but he was a great value where we got him. With Mingo a question mark, we need another pass rusher opposite Paul Kruger to add to one of the leagues top pass defenses and we think we got a great one.
Todd Gurley, RB - Georgia
6'1"/222 lbs
I have him listed as a top 3 overall talent in this draft class if his knee checks out. Rare blend of strength and explosivness. Great size and power but can break the long run. He's the best RB I've seen come out of college since Adrian Peterson. Great receiver out of the backfield, a true workhorse, 3-down back. In 2014, 61.9% of his yardage was after contact, rarely fumbles. While the Browns have some good young RBs, none are even close to Gurley's talent. On an offense completely void of weapons, we could not pass on adding a possible generational talent.
SY's Take:"*Gurley would have been a top 4 player in this draft class if it weren’t for the torn ACL. He fits on the NYG roster if he falls to the 2nd round pick. RB may not be a need but I don’t think this kind of player can be passed on if he is there unless there is another guy there at or very near his grade."
Maxx Williams, TE - Minnesota
6'4"/249 lbs, 4.78, 34.5" vert, 117" broad, 4.37ss (all top 5 at the position)
Decent speed, very good acceleration. Very dangerous after the catch, 82% of his catches were 1st downs or TDs. Needs the NFL strength program and some technique work on his routes, but he's the consensus #1 TE in a weak draft class and fills a huge need for 1) Playmakers on an awful offense and 2)a TE that can threaten the seam with Jordan cameron moving on.
SY's Take:"*I don’t see Williams as a first round caliber talent but with this TE class being overly weak, he could sneak in there somewhere. I think he is a tough kid that can make a lot of touch catches, but he isn’t the kind of TE that scares anyone. We aren’t talking about a supreme athlete here and really, he isn’t that good of a blocker. Weak lower body. That would bother me if I brought him in to be a starting TE unless we were talking about an elite athlete and pass catcher."
Rashad Greene, WR - Florida State
5'11"/182 lbs, 4.53 - 40 yds, 36.5" vert, 4.12ss
2014 biletnikoff finalist, 1st team all ACC, 2nd team AA. FSU career leader in receptions and receiving yards. Great route runner who is extremely smooth. Elusive after the catch and adjusts well to the ball. He is a little slightly built but is just an excellent football player. Not going to be a #1 star receiver but should be a great #2.
SY's Take: "*Sure handed and reliable underneath route runner. The lack of size is overblown, he is as smooth a receiver you will find and can be a weapon for an offense than relies on WRs getting themselves open via quick routes and savvy reading of the defense."
Ramik Wilson, ILB - Georgia
6'2"/237 lbs, 33" arms, 4.77, 23 reps
Three year starter, plays downhill against the run. Moves extremely well laterally, plays faster sideline-to-sideline than his timed speed. Very good tackler. Right now he's a liability in coverage, but his athleticism should allow him to improve there. Comes from a 3-4 at Georgia. The Browns run defense was atrocious last year, Dansby can still play but he's getting long in the tooth and Craig Robertson is mediocre and undersized. Wilson should be able to start at the WILB spot right away and help against the run
Leterrius Walton, DL - Central Michigan
6'5"/320 lbs, 32" arms, 25 reps, 5.25
Relatively new to the DL, moved from the OL and keeps getting better. Some explosiveness off the snap, can rush the passer as well as play the run. Projects well to the 5-technique for us. Still improving, needs some polish but should be a solid starter in a few years.
SY's Take: "Another small school guy with an intriguing tool set and developed skills. Walton is more than a run plug, he showed some good movement between the tackles and if the light turns on, you are looking at a starting caliber player that can fit multiple schemes. He’s a guy I think sneaks in to the top 3 rounds."
Craig Mager, CB - Texas State
5'11"/201 lbs, 4.44, 130" broad, 4.07ss, 17 reps
Small school prospect, 4 year starter, who plays with fire and emotion. Loves to hit, great athlete with quick-twitch skills. Average instincts, but played really well at the East-West Shrine game. Super competitive, high ceiling guy.
Xavier Williams, DT - Northern Iowa
6'2"/320 lbs, 30 reps
Former wrestler who plays with great leverage and natural strength. Good effort and toughness, very successful taking on double teams. Plays with great quickness off of the snap for a man of his size. Played extremely well at the East/West Shrine Bowl. His low base and ability to play with leverage has us projecting him to a future at the nose with some better technique and lower body strength.
Dres Anderson, WR - Utah
6'1"/187 lbs, Pro Day: 4.47, 4.22 SS, 6.83 3-Cone
Knee injury ended his 2014 season early, but a great pro day workout without a brace shows how his healing process has going. Thought to be a 2nd day pick coming into the season, we are thrilled with the value here with our final pick. The son of "Flipper" Anderson. Very explosive, great acceleration and tough after the catch. 4-time academic all Pac-12. Leaves Utah ranked in the top six all time in receiving yards, 100 yd games, td catches even after missing more than half of the season.
Although a tad shorter than ideal, Brown was too good to pass up especially with the need caused by the trade of Haloti Ngata
Round 2 - Devin Smith/WR/Ohio State
The Ravens lost Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones in the off season and Steve Smith Jr. isn't getting any younger. Electric with the ball in his hands, Smith will make defenses respect the deep ball
Round 3 - D'Joun Smith/CB/Florida Atlantic
CB is a big need for the Ravens and Smith is a playmaker with intriguing upside
Round 4 - Reese Dismukes/C/Auburn
Zuttah is an 8 year vet and the depth behind him is questionable. Also represents solid value
Round 4 - Jeff Heuerman/TE/Ohio State
Another value pick. Dennis Pitta is making a lot of money to sit on IR. With the Ravens cap issues Heuerman can develop into a nice complement to 2014 3rd Rounder Crockett Gilmore so Pitta can be dumped
Round 4 - Markus Golden/OLB/Missouri
Tweener who will aid the pass rush after the Ravens lost McPhee in Free Agency and others are getting older
Round 5 - Kenny Bell/WR/Nebraska
Impressive combine and I feel a lot of untapped potential. Can also help in return game
Round 5 - Cameron Artis-Payne/RB/Auburn
With Rice and Pierce gone the Ravens are thin at RB. Finally need met some value
Round 5 - Mitch Morse/OL/Missouri
Too good to pass up here. Will provide depth across the OL which the Ravens could use
Round 6 - Alani Fua/OLB/BYU
With a number of players ranked similarly had to throw our west coast scouts a bone. May be destined for practice squad but upside with a solid 40 at Indy and tremendous 3 cone and shuttle times

Round 5

Round 5
Blake Bell, TE, Oklahoma
Round 6
Imoan Claiborn, S/CB, Northwestern State
Round 1 (Pick 17) - Andrus Peat OT
This was picked from a generic list and gave me the opportunity to take over the Chargers. What's interesting is that this is the player I would have taken anyway. Peat is the top player on my board and addresses a huge need. He gives us the opportunity to move Fluker inside while presenting a possibility at a long term solution at LT.
Round 2 (Pick 48) - Jay Ajayi RB
This is the running back that I wanted and am thrilled to come away with. Ajayi is the next Marshawn Lynch / Steven Jackson and is going to bring a much needed physical presence to the Chargers running game. Sy's #2 RB and his writeup:
Ajayi brings everything to the table that the NFL wants out of a running back. He has size and open field speed to runaway from defenders, but also shows a quick change of direction and smooth agility in traffic. Ajayi can break tackles several ways, consistently gaining extra yards. He is a true three down back that could be starting in the NFL his rookie season if the situation presented itself.
Round 3 (Pick 83) - Lorenzo Maudlin OLB
Maudlin provides some much needed youth to the pass rush. He's a playmaker that will likely contribute on special teams year 1 and a situation pass rusher.
Round 4 (Pick 117) - Antwan Goodley WR
Antwan Goodley is an interesting prospect and I was surprised to see him still available. He will compete for roles on special teams and will compete for a role as a WR.
Round 5 (Pick 153) Zach Wagenmann OLB
Perhaps too early with this pick but he was a player I wanted to come away with. He competed at a lower level in the Big Sky but absolutely dominated there. He made a big impression at the combine besting many of the higher rated prospects. Here's Sy's writeup on him:
Not sure this guy can hack it as a 4-3 DE, as I just don’t see the body type. But if NYG can create a role for a situational pass rusher from a LB type spot, Wagenmann is worth a day 3 look. At a lower level of college football, he looked like Clay Matthews with his explosion off the ball and relentless pursuit of the action. He is a physical guy that had a nice showing at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Round 6 (Pick 192) - Mike Hull ILB
Hull is a bit undersized and not the most athletic but had massive production. He was the linebacker of the year in the Big 10 which is nothing to sneeze at. Hoping he can compete on specials and bulk up and could potentially hack it as an ILB.
I think it would be fun to compare how people did relative to what the pros do. Of course the pros are wrong more than they're right but it's something I can take a shot at if people are interested.

Thank you, Matt, for the awesomeness that is you. You really make this an easy and enjoyable process.
Best!
Nope, 5 is the max... I just lost a few toward the end.. Still need to find three
I almost used my last pick on 3 of them. Decided to go with Magee because to me he seemed the most likely to be drafted by one of the other teams.
Thank you!
