What do you HATE the most about The NFL Network???

CBSGameFace : 4/6/2015 10:55 pm
A) The obvious anti-NY bias?

B) The lame ass contrarian debates about blah, blah, blah?

C) The incessant Cowboy lovefest?

D) Jordan Babineaux's butchering of the English language?

E) Lavar Arrington's wardrobe?

F) The 'Who is the greatest of all time' debates?

G) Anything that Solomon Wilcots says?

H) Jamie 'Daisy' Dukes?

Please. Have at it. Feel free to add anything I might have missed.

How about the pathetic programming?
Tom in NY : 4/6/2015 11:12 pm : link
They have the broadcast copies of every NFL game from the last 50+ years....and what do they show us during the off-season? Yes, you guessed it, "Top Ten Players named Steve." Or perhaps you missed another great one..."Top 10 whacky plays."

Can you re-show some of the great games of the '70's, '80's, and '90's please? ...and "Yes" I do know that they have shown some of them, but it seems like the same 15-20 games get show sporadically, rather than the entire rest of the library that they have at their fingertips.

Don't forget, 'Top 10 Draft Day Trades', where some jerkoff reporter from San Diego says that having Roman Oben solidify the San Diego line for an entire year and a half was one of the reasons that SD got the better of the Eli/Rivers trade.

Yah, ok!!
Do you see a disturbing trend here....
CBSGameFace : 4/6/2015 11:25 pm : link
....on this Tuesday's lineup?? Back to back, no less....

TOP 10 "Top 10 Dallas Cowboys" - The bright lights of 'Big D' have been home to big talent like Tony Dorsett, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. NFL's Top 10 reveals the biggest star to don the star with a countdown of the Top 10 Dallas Cowboys.

NFL CLASSIC GAMES "NFL Classic Games" - Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants (1/2/94) - Cowboys overcome Emmitt Smith's separated shoulder to seize critical OT victory vs. Giants and claim NFC East title.

SLUUUUURRRRRRRRRRPPP!!!
Sorry, this one is right after those two on Thursday...
CBSGameFace : 4/6/2015 11:27 pm : link
FILM SESSION "Emmitt Smith: Run With History" - 16,727 yards - nearly a third of a marathon. For Emmitt Smith, this distance was not traversed mile by mile, but yard by yard, inch by inch in his quest to become the NFL's all-time leading rusher - a record held for 18 years by the legendary Walter Payton. An inside look at the story of Emmitt Smith's climb from Pensacola, Florida to the top of football's highest mountain.
Just about everything.

ESPN Junior is one of the more pathetic networks on television. Truly awful viewing almost all of the time.

Considering that most of current TV networks are absolute garbage to start with, I intend that comment as a significant indictment of current NFL management after the high standards set previously by NFL Films.
They do a lot of theme weeks
GmeninPSL : 4/6/2015 11:41 pm : link
so the Dallas love fest on Tuesday does not bother me. When I first heard about the development of this Network I was excited because I thought they would show many of the classic Pat Summerall & Tom Brookshire "This week in the NFL" & "This week in Pro Football", but they dropped the ball in so many ways!!

Instead of offering or dedicating a few hours a day to these classics (which they easily could) they decide to show repeats of same day programming. Good thing I now own EVERY single show from 1967 - 1979 so I don't have to depend on the NFL Network for something they should have had on their regular schedule.

Bottom line is they are going for the 25+ Male market and it shows. But the way I see it classic programming is classic programming and I don't see anything wrong with devoting the daily 2PM - 4PM time slot to these classics.
NFLN tends to focus more

Most of their programming is about "lists"
David B. : 4/7/2015 8:11 am : link
Top ten this or that. Call yourself the NFL LIST Network.

They do a good job with the Combine, and since Mayock became a fixture, they're better ESPN on the draft.

They have SOME decent programming -- A Football Life is a good series, and anything created by the Sabols is top-notch. The series on the Giants Scouts was good.

Look, EVERY "24/7 news network" has TOO MUCH time to fill and is gonna have a lot of repetition, crappy filler shows, and other shit. ESPN covers more sports, and they are even worse.
I don't know that I hate them, but I haven't watched in a while.

Touché.....
When I moved to my new house in 2013
Scyber : 4/7/2015 8:42 am : link
I had the choice of keeping my current lineup (+ 1 or two more channels) for an extra $10/month or losing around 15 channels and paying $10 less a month. NFL Network was the only one on that list I even watched. So it really wasn't a hard decision.

I haven't watched it much in the last two years, and I really do not miss it at all. There was literally nothing on that channel that interested me then, and nothing now (as far as I can tell) that interests me. I get all my news online and can watch video segments online if I want also.
I agree....
Doomster : 4/7/2015 8:44 am : link
Analysts? Listening to these guys, they are a joke....

And as stated, with the video library they have on hand, it is totally wasted.....

I understand, they have to "create" news or controversy, between the SB and the Draft, to try and attract viewers....unfortunately, that same process has now run over into the regular season, making you wonder if these guys watch any of the games...
They need to simalcast some NFl talk show
Joey from GlenCove : 4/7/2015 8:49 am : link
and not make it like MIKE AND MIKE
I think that this would make a great segment.....
CBSGameFace : 4/7/2015 8:49 am : link
......get some real former coaches in there, give them a down/distance/time of game scenario and have them break down the play and what THEY would do in a given situation, i.e. Seattle's last Super Bowl play, and let them talk about gap disciplines and use the telestrator to make their points. I'm dying for this type of knowledge and I truly feel that REAL NFL fans would eat this shit up.

But what do I know, I'm only Puerto Rican.......and I work for CBS Sports.

A double handicap....

I can't stand the need to laugh so much about inside-type discussions.
Hey LeVar you know how hard so and so hits but hey you gave your fair share. Then all nods and pointing.
Shit the need to call everyone by intials? when the f did that start. ED hey TD hey JB hey JD?? their poor mothers gave them first names for a reason. Why not use them.

What exactly does Molly Quirrem or Erin Coscarelli bring to any show? (other than the obvious short, tight skirts and tops?)

Actually miss Alex Flanagan, she seemed to know her stuff and has some reasonble questions.

I only like Mayock and I will record Path to the draft and flash through it checking out anything Giant or any players I am interested in.
Luckily, he's now gone! That Strahan-hater,Sapp!

The problem is the NFL Network clearly does not care about the REAL fan or broadcasting intelligent programming. Too bad for us I guess.

What is a 1-gap, 3-gap, etc. Show it drawn up on a board and pepper it with video clips.

Have a retired player from that position along with a retired coordinator host that show.

And I KNOW I've seen Billick fucked up on quite a few occasions. I don't know if it's bing or alcohol, but the dudes mouth was sooooo dry and he kept slurring his words. Lindsay whatshername also looked high as kite on one show.

I'm sure they could some cool motion graphic overlay to it and then pull away to show it on a chalkboard and then back to the field via a 3d swing angle. The possibilities for excellence there are endless.

Very few complete game films exist, and those are from teams filming their own games. Most of what's available come from newsreel highlights.

About 15 years ago ESPN2 or ESPN Classic dedicated a week to showing complete game films (in color!) of a bunch of the NFL Championship Games from the 1950's and early 1960's. I watched two the of Cleveland-Detroit games, the Giants-Bears from 1956 and the Eagles-Packers from 1960. Those were fantastic, I only wish I'd had the foresight to record them. I'd foolishly assumed they'd be re-aired.

Larry, there's a guy on eBay who sells classic games for $29.95 per..He's been selling them for over a decade iirc..I don't recall if I ever bought one, but would have no reservations in doing so..I think he has the oldest FULL GAME dvd ever recorded, a 1960 game..Take a look and judge for yourself..
