And there's no mystery that the Giants rush D sucked. But this degree of uniformity among them is unusual. Perhaps simply a coincidence.

at #9, unless he's Bob Lilly, is too high. I doubt they pass on MSt corner Tres Waynes if he's there. They invested in DTs in FA. I'd love to take a sneak peak at Reese's big board. IMHO. :)

but Giants fans know it isn't as big a need as some think with the Ellis signing and expected development from last years 3rd rounder Bromley. Shelton duplicates Hankins and while I like Malcolm Brown he's just a bit of a stretch that high imo.

If they had any belief that Landon Collins was worth the #9 pick they'd all have us drafting a S #9 based on need...

There's a view not shared by many...9 out of 10 will tell you that Waynes is not rated that high...CB premium position and we could use another stud (who can't) but don't this value is there at 9....most would agree I think you'll find.

So I doubt they go that direction at 9 not "doubt they pass".

I literally can't get a realistic scenario where that would be the case....take 2 QBS, White/Cooper and Williams/Fowler of the board and there are still a handfull of guys ( Collins/Peat/Scherff and maybe Beasely, Dupre that would seem to be higher on their board)

My official strategy:

Trade down if at all possible, take Maxx Williams who isn't making it out of the 1st round.

Use that fire power to trade back up and take one of the OT's. My official draft day move.

Shelton has 9 sacks/16.5TFL/93 tackles...this season. Let me say I don't want to pick him as I think he and Hankins play the same position but those are impact numbers for any DL.

Drafting a DT at #9 would mean a big time talent, and it's debatable such a talent is in this draft. More likely, the draftniks are pulling the old see hole/fill hole based almost entirely on perceived need.

The guy's not just a space eater. He can get to the passer and can chase down plays. Plus he rarely took a play off. For a guy his size, that's impressive.

Ellis has been a backup, signing him adds depth but he is not the caliber of Shelton. Go back and look at the footage of Shelton. Go has a non stop Motor. Gets off the ball quick and is very seldom not playing on the offensive side of scrimmage. To further see what he does see how often a linemen gets to shaq.

There isn't A DT in this class worth the 9th pick. If the Giants did draft a DT in the first,it would probably be Brown IMO. Shelton is simply a 2 down run stuffer!! He would come off the field on 3rd down and obvious passing situations. No way is Shelton a top 10 pick,but then again neither is Brown. Atleast Malcom offers a little pass rush ability.
