What do YOU suggest we do at safety?

1. Draft one or two.

2. Sign another couple of undrafted free agents (the Giants may be more desirable to UDFAs because of the lack of depth.)

3. Move some of the teams extra corners to safety.

4. monitor the waiver wire and sign some cheap vets over the summer.

5. address the need next year.

Just a few options to consider

they would have 0 career NFL starts at safety.

And neautralize possibly the biggest strength on our team (our corners) if that's the way it goes down I can't wait to watch our offense take it to the next level average over 30 points a game.. And still go 6-10 :'(

Why is it every year Reese picks a position and is like "alright guys, this position.. no longer matters, just stick anybody in there.. I think my aunt might be available"

If it were my decision I would target Derron Smith in the 3rd and Adrian Amos later. Let the cream rise to the top in camp.

I also like Ibraheim Campbell as a SS but he won't last beyond 4 imo. Not sure Id want to spend a 3rd and 4th on safeties.

We can manage to hit on 2 safties in the draft to come in and make an immediate impact (highlyyy unlikely I'm afraid) that would be a very bold and unwise move

but the fact is there aren't a lot of options for safety right now. We are going to have to settle for lack of experience and try to find some talent.

as that will help everything everywhere all the time.

resign Stevie Brown after the draft to get some sort of veteran presence back in there. Currently the Giants are sitting tight and hoping a top talent drops in the draft, but even if we got a guy we had rated as a late 1 in the 2nd or 2nd in the 3rd/4th...I still think they should grab Stevie Brown or a guy they like better.

Not much else they can do. Sign Stevie Brown or Miles or somebody like them, draft one on the second day, and another on the third day, and bring in one or two OFAs at the position.

They still need at least three more guys because Behre will probably be the only one of the three they have right now still on the active roster on opening day. Taylor will be back on IR and Gordon will be back at his real world job.

The only other possible route would be to trade for a quality veteran, but that would involve giving up a draft pick or picks. Come to think of it, they blow so many draft picks that maybe this isn't such a bad idea after all.

They'll draft one, continue to try and add a young ascending vet, eg, Miles, if his price drops, and the young dudes on the roster are going to get some serious burn.

Don't know if you are being sarcastic or not; but remember any position is an injury away from a "backup" taking over. Cooper is healthy now. He is a player who was an alternate All American as a freshman @ Geo Tech and All American as a senior @ Richmond. He shined at the East West Game Shrine game (see what I did there?). At 6'4" 228 he has the potential to be another Cam Chancellor. Spags must be drooling. I think he has the credentials equal to of any day 2 or 3 draft options (and I don't want a S @ 9.)
BTW I'd love to see the "Missile" duplicate on defense what he showed on special teams. Although between them they have 0 starts, I'm less worried about safety than the ability of the OL to participate in the run game. (Which we should try to solve w/ #9)

Convert Bennett Jackson to S.
Draft one of Josh Shaw, Jaquiski Tartt, Adrian Amos, Durell Eskridge, or Doran Grant.

My guess is it's Brown, Jackson, and one of the potential draftees. They'll probably also get a UDFA S after the draft.

I am being sarcastic & frustrated also. I'd like to see what these 2 young guys are capable of. IMO, if he guy can't start by year 3, it's time to turn over the roster at his position. I think the 2 guys would be fine and get better as the season progresses.

Beat the Eagles in that game on way to super bowl. You don't need 53 all pros to win in NFL.

You need a little bit of luck and the right team chemistry. All these athletes are world class.

Except Gurley is hurt and even if he wasn't, when was the last time an effective running back was taken in the top 25 let alone top 5?

So because we won 1 game 8 years ago with back up safties it's a good idea to roll through a whole season starting back up safties? The CC browns of the world can cost even great teams their season, you're team is only as good as the worst player on the field cause that's all it takes for any given play to end up in complete disaster, one guy not doing his job, also we've subscribed to your theory for years and years with our LBs, how's that worked out? I can't get over the theory of "theyre all world class athletes" so what? They're not all good football players on a professional level, in fact many are quite bad (I can't believe I actually have to lay that out) no team full of scrubs ever won anything, no shit it doesn't take 22 all pros but you need good players and enough solid players to not have any glaring weakness that teams can feast on, that's what separates the good teams from the bad more times than not, we had one of the best corner tandems in the league last year when healthy we gave up a QB rating of 29 outside the hash marks, yet because of a few scrub players our pass D overall was trash because we gave up a QB rating of 120 in the middle of the field and teams realized they could just relentlessly attack us there over and over and over again and there wasn't a damn thing we could do about it, but hey let's keep trying what we've been doing the last few years it's worked out well

Every team in the NFL is in a similar position with regard to one squad on their team or another. Nonetheless, two teams will play in the super bowl in February.
