If theres anything I've learned, the Giants will always know more than me. But I can't help but fall in love with some prospects and hate the thought of others. I hates the JPP pick in 2010 (thought he was too raw) and was pissed off when they took Beckham last year over Donald and Martin (in fairness all 3 were great.)
For me this year it's Audrus Peat. I watched a lot of film on him and saw a bunch of his games, he seems way too raw and more of a project at 9. If they went oline I'd much rather have a safer pick like Scherff (although I can't shake the thought of a Cooper and Beckham tandem for the next decade.) I also think Peat has a very high bust rate. Who would make you "throw the remote?"
I don't mind risking later in the draft, but not at pick 9.
We need a stud.
Or any of these DTs.
Not one of these DTs are worth a top 20 pick let alone a top 10 pick.
In round one that is (with a trade down or not)
Even though the value might be best, drafting another first round receiver completely ignores the real issue with this team in the trenches. I am all for Reese taking a receiver in the mid rounds but to me the first pick has to be an offensive or defensive lineman if the Giants want to compete this year.
I don't care about Peat one way or the other since I agree with CiP's thinking, but to start a thread by basically saying "Hey, I was absolutely dead wrong about these two throw the remote picks, and this year's throw the remote is Peat" seems a bit odd. Unless you're rooting for Peat to succeed.

The value of drafting a top receiver is protecting yourself against injury. Depth. And making it impossible to double cover either one without consequence. It makes the offense better. It makes running the ball a little easier.
I find it weird that for a team as injured as the Giants have been for two years, nobody is considering what would happen if Beckham does get hurt. We'd be legitimately back to square 1, and you'd be counting on unreliable players like Donnell and Randle to carry the offense.
I will be happiest if the pick is a player to fortify the trench - either side. And I for one, think Peat is a gem that will solidify the offensive line for the next decade - and I can't say that about the other options which are basically guards listed as tackles.
But, I think I will feel a letdown if Cooper or White are on the board and they pass on them. By the next day I'll think that whoever they chose was a great pick and the best they could have made. By November, I will hate him.

I just have doubts that they would pick a ten-year solidifier when the decade will start at year two but their window is one year.

Morning 31..There was a little to pretty big letdown on here when we passed on Martin and Donald, no?
To answer the question, I will be disappointed with any pick that does not play on the oline.
BTW, i was listening to BBK and people are saying Denzel perryman can fall to round 3 because of size. I would FRAME my remote if we got Sherff in round 1, Agholor in round 2 and perryman in round 3.
Green-Beckham.
Any guy that was damaged; at least at 9 and 49.
In 2010, it was JPP. Didn't want to draft a guy with so few games played.
I give up on throwing the remote.
You said it brother.

would not incite me to throw the remote. The vision of Eli throwing to 2-3
great receivers is sufficient to get me to kiss that remote. I understand your math, but do not comprehend why assigning a huge salary to a non receiver will not put the Giants in as bad a salary cap position as giving the $ to a receiver. Remember also that the huge salary you fear cannot happen for at least another 3 years, due to rookie pay scales - and those 3 years that could be Eli's best ones, where his QB smarts continue to grow & before his physical abilities start to diminish. Just contemplate that scene before thinking of throwing your remote.
Except for the fact the cap keeps going up every year..
